Board 8 > Resuming Pokemon White after 11 years

I have four badges. I'm on Route 6. My team kinda sucks (second stage of all three starters, Victini, Gurdurr, and Tranquill) and I'm gonna fix that at some point. I have no idea what was going on. Will what I'm supposed to do be clear once I reach the next town? Is there anything major that's happened so far that I need to know or I'm not going to know what to do?

The plot hasn't really started to hit in yet. Team Plasma is some group talking about freeing Pokemon from humans and you'd have battled a weirdo named N once or twice who would've spouted some nonsense about ideals or something. Otherwise you and your rivals have just been going on your journey.

Four badges means you need to go back south to Driftveil to get the fifth badge there before continuing on north. I don't recall there being anything plot related you had to do on Route 6 before you can challenge the Driftveil gym, but I could be wrong. There might be some Team Plasma stuff at the Cold Storage south of Driftveil you haven't done yet.

Thanks, I was wondering if I'd missed a badge. I actually booted up my game in that town but immediately left assuming I'd done what I needed to do.

Sometimes. I did it in Platinum and this, at the advent of WiFi trading, through the help of some people on this board. I also did it in an early Gold playthrough with the help of my brother.
