Trying to finally lose a little weight and I am tired of spending so much money on food so I cooked in bulk. Should have enough for the week.

Ignore the little tray, thats my tray for lunch at work.

Its basically a chicken and vegetable baked stir fry. It has baked chicken, peppers (red, orange, yellow, and green), onions, shiitake mushrooms, white mushrooms, snow peas, a shit ton of spices, and black sesame seeds.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/6/2/6/AAZ7rcAAC9Hi.jpg

Came out really damn good. I think I over oiled it but other then that is was fucking amazing.

It's not pretty, but I bet it's pretty good!!
I'd probably just get some Brussel sprouts happening in there.

Ohhh thats a good idea. Brussels sprouts are pretty good. I want to try to cook every weekend that way I dont need to worry about where I am going to get food for the rest of the week and I gotta switch it up every week so Brussel sprouts is cool.

Yeah presentation is not great but it was super good and I dont even eat vegetables like that. Very low calorie too but I think the extra oil hurt it nutrition wise. Didnt really know how much to put on so I just dumped it in. Now that I know what I am doing I think next weeks attempt will be much better lol

Ya, it is cool to make a meal that lasts about a week.
You might was to try doing a bean soup.

Also, visit w/e kind of health food store you might have around, you can save a ton on herbs that way.

Paprika, basil, parsley, garlic and herb spice mix, and Chinese five spice was what I used herb and spice wise.

I highly recommend five spice btw. Shit slaps

<_< the only "five spice" anything I ever use is Goya Sazon. And it's been years. What is Chinese Five Spice?

It's carried by the same name brand that makes my garlic powder? Perfect for stews?

Well, okay, I'll learn how to make stew, then.

i just tried something with Brussels sprouts last week that turned out to be really tasty, i shredded up a bunch of them and adapted a recipe for fried cabbage to use the shredded Brussels sprouts instead.

basically you cook up some chopped bacon crispy in a big pot, throw in a whole julienned white onion and a whole bulb of roasted garlic and cook on medium high until caramelized, then throw in the Brussels sprouts, mix it around good, put on low and put a lid on it, let it simmer gently for about 20 minutes or so, mixing it around a few times and seasoning it with coarse salt, coarse pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. it was so tasty. not quite as good as with the cabbage though tbh.

I use McCormick five spice because its the only one I can find. It is basically a brick colored powder of cinnamon, cloves, star anise, sichuan pepper and fennel. Its used in chinese cooking a shit ton. You could buy all five spices and mix them your own if you really want. I cook with it a lot. Super good.

I might steal that recipe. That sounds damn good. Aside from the bacon it seems fairly healthy too.

yeah it needs the oil that the bacon gives off as it cooks, but you only use like 4-6 strips of bacon depending on how big a head of cabbage it is (edit: oh yeah or how much Brussels sprouts you use, i think i used a pound and did 6 strips), so per serving it's not all that bad i don't think. it can probably be substituted for turkey bacon and olive oil though if you want to make it healthier. i've done that with the cabbage and it turned out pretty well.

And I hope this all involves Olive Oil!

Probably anywhere from 15-25 dollars a day for lunch and dinner. Of course I could lower that by eating fast food but I have been trying to lay off fast food

For real, if you live in a town with a Health or 'natural foods' store, they should have some that you can buy in bulk.
And by bulk I mean, you just pour some from a jar into a bag which they should provide.
It's so much cheaper compared to getting those little jars at a grocery store. ~Often better quality as well.

So I am sure it is just water weight but I am down 4 pounds and I am on my 3rd day of eating healthier. Still got some more of this food leftover but I have some leftover noodles my family made and will mix it with the stir fry to keep from being food fatigued. Feeling good tho
