doesn't change the fact your average dog is more affectionate then your average cat.

Can get both a dog and a cat. My dog loved my dad's cats. They were best friends, and it didn't matter that she was a 40 pound bulldozer.

I much prefer dogs, and big ones at that, but cats are very good pets too.

Dogs are more likely to build a deeper connection with you, but cats can too. My cousins cat use to follow me until I sat down, so it could jump on my lap. Made me feel appreciated like a dog does. Especially since I never had anything for it except attention.

If you're an animal person, you can have a close relationship with most animals. It's just about reading their body language and catering to them with attention but not letting them run your shit lol. You can tell if someone is a animal person by how they pet animals.

Empathetic owners know where all the spots they want to be itched are and non animal people usually just pet them in one spot for 5 seconds and move on. That's what I observed at least.
