I'm curious as to how many times this has actually happened. I always feel awkward just taking it even though I paid for it.

saw someone steal from the drive-through once.
stopped at a red light, and saw someone walking down the drive through.... figured they were going to steal it, and they did. snatched the bag as it was handed out the window

I went to Starbucks with a few friends and this one guy, I'll call him Jay, was the last to place his order. Like the rest of us, he gives his name and they write it on the cup. And somehow he gets his drink before the rest of us have ours. I never even heard his name being called. We sit down and he starts drinking his drink and making these weird faces.

"I don't think this is what I ordered."

Then one of the baristas sits a drink on the counter and calls out Jay's name and we all realize he'd just grabbed someone else's order.

And the really weird thing is that nobody ever noticed! You'd think someone would have started to complain about not getting their drink, but we were all watching and waiting and nothing happened!

It didn't have a name on it. And everybody else in the shop was sitting down or otherwise occupied, there was nobody waiting at the counter.

You have no idea how many people grab the wrong order by mistake at restaurants, just because they refuse to pay attention. I saw it too many times; I could call their order number, announce the contents, and some dumbass would still grab it and leave even though that's not what they ordered. So their real order would go to waste and we have to make the taken order over again.
