They would also cheer if they never had to bathe, eat vegatables, wipe their ass, take yucky medicene/injections or tidy their rooms.

It's almost like children are egotistical and need adults to parent them into making good decisions because their brains are literally not developed enough to make rational long term decisions.

Christ if you asked kids if they would rather watch spongebob or get a garanteed lucrative 401k, they would pick Squidward every time

bro what the fuck is this take

i dont like kids, but you and people making posts like this are so wild.

your first line almost contradicts the second one. of course they would cheer if they didn't have to eat vegetables. they're children. expecting them to be able to understand the magnitude of covid and masks is wildly unfair.

Yes in the sense that both views are egostical and without logic.

DowntownMrSmith posted...
By that logic well be masking forever,

non-seqiutur.

No one said kids would have to wear masks forever

as the elderly and immuno compromised will always exist.

This covid risk however will not.

I dont care about the unvaxed, they screwed up and Im not going to alter my life to help them.

Great except new variants are being discovered, the unvaxxed are keeping it around and some people can't vax for legitimate reasons.

"I don't care about covid, let's ignore it because I'm safe." = "I don't care about other people suffering and denying"

more people having and spreading covid means more variants, means more suffering, more death, more overfull hospitals (so more suffering and death from non covid causes) and more need in the future to wear masks again.

Covid hasn't gone away just because you're bored of it. It's still an ongoing epidemic. Ask anyone who works in a hospital. Ask any scientist from a relevant field.

Don't ever think that anti-vaxxers are only hurting themselves. They're hurting everyone
And anti-maskers are again, not only hurting themselves. They're hurting everyone

The kids deserve a normal childhood.

Wearing a mask during an epidemic doesn't end a normal childhood.

Those kids also deserves their families not to suffer and die needlessly.

Maybe it's because they're older (13 and 16), but neither of my kids give a shit about having to wear masks at school.

And the only ones I've heard that DO have a problem, are the ones who's parents tell them they shouldn't have to wear them.

My 2 year old son hates wearing a mask and pushes it away when we try to put it on. Further, masking at his preschool already is a joke. When I pick him up at lunchtime, kids are eating, playing and napping without masks. Small children can't wear masks during naptime for safety reasons. So, if they are only wearing the masks for half the day, what is the point? Nobody has demanded stricter masking enforcement, because we all realize the absurdity of masking toddlers. I live in a very blue area, by the way.

Further, we haven't been able to meet the other children and their parents yet. There have been none of the usual in-person events: holiday parties, winter carnivals, graduation ceremonies, that usually take place. So yes, I can definitely say that my son is being deprived of a normal childhood because of the masking and social distancing. Not that I would expect a bunch of childless people to relate, instead you call us selfish or bad parents.

Adults don't like wearing masks -- watch any sporting event, not just the Superbowl, but any sporting event. Nobody is wearing a mask, even in deep blue areas. If the adults hate masks, why do you assume kids don't mind?

Just because your school is doing a poor job implementing their mask mandate doesn't mean masking is a bad thing.

Plus, your child is interacting with other children, which is more important to his development than any of the other things you listed. He doesn't even know he's missing those things. My kids don't even remember PreK graduation, or really anything about daycare or PreK. If they spent it in masks, like they are now in middle and high school, they'd be none the wiser.

Disclaimer I'm pro-vax and pro-masking-where necessary, so don't rip me for saying this,

but why is TC getting savaged when he hasn't said anything wrong? red or blue, it's exactly the same as the whole "restaurant" charade; you're outside with no mask (because you're outside). you put on your mask and walk in the doors, up to the host/ess stand. "table for two? right this way!" you walk another 10-15 steps, take your seat, and off come the masks. you then proceed to eat for an hour around dozens of other unmasked eating individuals.

sounds like schools and preschools are the same way. sure the kids have their masks on when class starts, but an hour in and they're mostly off. and completely off at nap time. they proceed to spend several hours in a room with several other unmasked children.

Yes, these people do genuinely think that. They think that half-assed attempts at mask / vaccine mandates spread out sporadically over two years constitutes a 'lockdown.' They think that simply willing the pandemic into an endemic will make it so. And when we continue to limp along with this thing for the foreseeable future, with thousands continuing to die needlessly and the economy continuing to sputter because workers are in a constant cycle of being too sick to effectively staff their places of business, they'll continue to blame 'lockdowns' as the cause of it all.

Because, if the restaurant is following guidelines, the tables are properly distanced, and the employees interacting with multiple parties are masked, wash their hands, and are vaccinated.

Its the concept of doing something is better than doing nothing at all.

Youre basically asking why have a speed limit if some people are going to speed regardless?

Masks legit don't bother kids at all. Like sure they prefer not to wear them, but when asked to wear one they don't complain and just carry on with their lives. We don't require them now, but some kids still wear them. It is a minor inconvenience at most. We have had times over the past year where masks are required and then not required, the kids don't freak out like this. Call it staged or whatever but somebody told these kids to overreact for whatever reason (anything for clicks).

I guess it depends to some extent on the individual kid and teacher, and their age. Some people find them a serious communication barrier (not being able to see someone's lips move makes it harder to understand what they're saying), and others don't mind wearing them.

It's almost like the solution is to make them voluntary, so people can decide for themselves. Which is what will happen in the next few months.

Also, the science has shown Covid is not that dangerous for children, especially compared to other seasonal respiratory viruses.

You're right. It's spring 2021 all over again, when people were declaring mission accomplished on the pandemic, and the CDC made the boneheaded announcement that the vaccinated no longer needed to wear masks; and we all know how swiftly the Delta variant thumbed its nose at that. So bearing that in mind...

When President Biden and the CDC change their mind on mask mandates in the next couple of weeks, will you call them idiots?

Yes, I think I will.
