What was the point of vaccines if people still want everything to be like it was before they existed?

Not enough people have gotten them for it to get to how it was before this all started, so precautions still need to be made in certain areas of the country.

If we were sitting at 80-90% vaccinated instead of 60ish, maybe things would truly be back to whatever you considered normal pre-2020.

They certainly acted prematurely before, under very similar circumstances; I knew then that it was the wrong move, and Delta unfortunately vindicated my suspicions.

One doesn't actually need a medical degree to have a grasp on basic pattern recognition. It does however require a healthy dose of common sense, something that you seem to be sorely lacking.

People literally need to be told to be careful because the coffee they just ordered is really hot, you expect them to know anything about keeping themselves safe?

That is how people treat the signs a lot if the time, yes. Road design affects the speed traffic actually goes at far more than a sign does. You want people to drive slower, make the lanes narrower, put trees close to the road and other such things that makes going fast feel scary. If the road feels like an interstate, people are gonna drive fast regardless of your posted speed limit.

Well, there is the added caution of potentially getting punished for not adhering to the signs.

And it will lead to some people's demise, while most others will get to their destination unscathed. And then there's the ones who do the right thing, and maintain the speed limit, and STILL get into an accident.

Just like the vaccines and mask mandates. Some will 100% do the right thing, and get Covid anyway, while others will not follow any restrictions and not catch it ever.

Doesn't mean we should just sit here and pretend it doesn't exist.
