I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the tools I have tbh. I assume I'm not meant to level everything, but to pick the things that appeal to me? Although it seems like mastering everything will help take down monsters as they have different weaknesses etc. I already had to fight a noon wraith by trapping it with the magic circle rune.

Any permanent missables? Any reason to hunt down all the Gwent cards? Any obvious tips? I would love to know lol. Also if any playstyles are more newcomer friendly than others, it might inform what I invest points in.

Find the silver skull you see in the opening cutscene.

Quen is absurdly powerful.

Yeah I've noticed it's helpful. Are the upgrades worthwhile or is it fine to keep in its basic form? Or should I go for stamina to spam spells.

Gourmet is the best ability in the game. If you are struggling with health, or just find yourself low on healing items all the time it's a god send, but it's also stupidly over powered so it can also turn your game into EZ mode.

Getting a good Gwent deck is nice for a certain quest. A couple Gwent tips: each person you can play with will give you one random card for winning. There's a pool of cards that come from these people. There are also cards that are sold by vendors. If you want all the cards, buy those when you see them. Then, there is a quest with missable cards you need to get by winning matches.

For general gameplay, there is no reason to hoard armor and weapons. Just sell the shit you don't need aside from Witcher gear, which have quest upgrades.

Quen. Lots and lots of Quen.

Also, yeah, the Gourmet perk pretty much breaks healing entirely for the first half of the game, and it's still really good after enemies start hitting harder.

That really depends on your playstyle. I didn't really like magic much, others love it. I don't recall the quen upgrades being especially good.

Collect all the ingredients you can, there are some really good potion combos and the set bonuses from the School crafted sets are killer. Griffin is my allrounder, but I will swap to Cat depending on how much maneuverability I will need.

While selling is appealing, I played on PS4 and noticed loading times got longer and longer as the game went on. I strongly suspect it is because I kept selling to vendors (instead of breaking it down for materials), which AFAIK, the game kept in memory every item I ever sold so it was there for the buyback option later.

And I don't remember which spell it is, but I loved the brainwashing one. Helps with dialogue checks, and fun times fighting humans.

The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes. That's fact.
Everything else, is theory.
