Or liked the newer robocop movie more than the classic one? Seems most people didn't. Not sure even why they remade these 2 paul verhoeven movies when the 2 classic ones were very well liked.

I just watched the new Total Recall recently. The special effects/acting were, of course, better (although there's a particular charm to cheesy 80s acting). But the plot was what made the movie fun, and the it became less scifi and more...anticolonial. And the setting became less scifi and more "standard futuristic action movie". Instead of wondering "where is this going" with a sense of wonder it was "oh, the oppressed with overthrow their overlords".

Meh.

This. The original is a classic. I just watched it a couple months ago and I thought it was still pretty great.

Total Recall, I didn't know there was a remake.

Robocop, it was decent, it was just done before. I think it's a good introduction to the franchise if they have never seen any of the other iterations. Michael Keaton was great in it.

Never saw it, I've skipped a lot of the remakes.. Robocop, Jumanji, Ghostbusters

As long as people keep seeing these, Hollywood'll keep churning them out

Prettier movies made by people who didn't actually understand the originals and were utterly incapable of actually replicating them don't really appeal to me all that much, no.
