Starbucks is raising prices after reporting a 31% increase in profits. The companys revenue increased by almost 20% to over $8,000,000,000. Their CEOs pay increased by almost 40% last year to more than $20,000,000.

well the major reason is that the only way companies will change is if people collectively stop buying their shit. its not like the government is going to regulate anything with the current legislature in place, and you're crazy if you think companies will do it out of the goodness of their hearts.

It is why minimum wage laws are bad, just gives the company an excuse to have less employees working so wages budget remains the same then they can jack up the prices for "inflation". Then have record profits.

What would be better is having tight regulations on these companies so the cost of living remains in range of wages instead of raising wages to match absurd cost of living that just keeps rising as the wages rise.

Because until the consumers change, why wouldn't Starbucks raise their prices?

I understand the bad optics behind raising prices amidst some of the best corporate profits this country has ever seen. I do. But I also accept that nothing is going to change because people still need coffee, gas, and groceries. And the corporations have zero desire to help the consumers so long as they can boost profits.

It sucks, but it's reality.

My sister works at Starbucks and its insane how expensive it is. Even the workers are shocked too. Our orders are usually above $20-$30 which thankfully, we have a 50% discount and she gets free drinks and food sometimes. Heck after the discounts, I still think its expensive hahah.

And to think that there are MILLIONS of customers who have no discounts, and buy Starbucks daily... sheeeeeeesh......... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
