I wrote off the first one cause i didnt like its setting. A coworker urged me to try any other one cause each one seems to have a very different setting.

Tried 3 and think its great. AC digital sales are aggressively good. Id like some physically though.

I have a lot of good memories with AC 2. Brotherhood and AC4 are also great. Hell, Rogue was great too. I still haven't made it past Unity though

If your PC is good enough check out Unity. It's my favorite of the original engine/combat system group. Some of the bigger cities are draw dropping even today.

The first one is way overrated IMO, but they're good from the second one on.

Sale after sale after sale. Like Odyssey ultimate ($30) came with ac3 and liberation. Ac4 and pass was like $14. Syndicate gold was like $14.

I hated how it looked/setting and what made me disinterested to begin with.

Theyre good and well made games.

There have just been a lot of them, and the constant gear score upgrading in odyssey pissed me off.

I don't really remember much. Just Connor's actions made no sense and it annoyed the everliving shit out me. I didn't get very far into unlocking him as a playable character before I just put it down and never picked it up again.

I still love the first one. Only one I've played I like more is 4. 4 just kills me though cause I feel it shouldn't have been a assassins creed game. It felt like a legit pirate game with guest appearances from the brotherhood.

The first one was basically a proof of concept, it was a bit thin on content, but they quickly got into a groove.

If you like open-world games in the vein of the modern Ubisoft development standard, then you'll enjoy almost any of them (Rogue is the only one I haven't played much of, by most accounts its the weakest of them all.)

Odyssey took up nearly 100hrs of my gaming life, it was a lot of fun, as long as you play as the sister, and not the brother. He wasn't nearly as engaging as a character.

I think I liked 1 cause of the setting. Also helped I could effectively beat any combat encounter with just the hidden blade which made me feel badass

For whatever reason I didn't like ezio cept for the one where he was older

I played the ezio trilogy, 3, and some of black flag. I plan on returning to black flag and probably replaying the ezio trilogy. 3 was great as well despite what people say about it. 1 was bad, I never finished it. I tried one of the newer ones, origins I think, I dont like how they changed the gameplay.

the worst part is the modern day shit. I did not care for it at all, it detracts from the gameplay and story

The modern day stuff is 100% the least interesting part of all of them, for me. Valhalla really takes it up another level to "really? that's what they're doing in the modern day now?". I just do my best to rush through and ignore any of those parts.

And Origins was the first modern one that leans full-on into the Ubisoft open world game, like Far Cry and such, so I can imagine that was probably where you got turned away. I like that style, but I get why folks don't care for it, so I wouldn't blame you for not doing the newer games.

Ive only played Black Flag because it was supposedly the best (that or Origins, according to Message boards). It had a lot of great stuff, but also a lot of repetitive trash and I cant understand how people can play 10+ games of this stuff.

pros:
  • Sailing is a joy. The sea chanties are the highlight, although it would have been better if they were all unlocked from the beginning. Ship combat is fun. It gets a little repetitive by the end, but then the legendary ship battles become possible to beat once you upgrade your ship a bunch and those are a blast. Wish there were more than just 5 legendary ships.
  • The board games you can play in towns are great! And the fleet management game is mildly interesting. The hacking mini games in present day are fun too.
  • theres generally a variety of things to do, between jungle exploring, rooftop parkour, sailing, underwater salvaging, boarding ships, hunting whales, sneaking past/murdering guards, and modern day corporate espionage. Although most of it becomes repetitive by the end.

Cons:
  • the collect-a-thon aspect is horrible and from what I understand this bullshit is in every AC game. Just checking stuff off a list, and it all becomes repetitive and boring by the end.
  • the environment doesnt have much variety. The Caribbean cities, open oceans, and jungles/beaches are all real pretty at first, but theyre all the game has to offer. The cities also all feel like the same square grid copy+pasted a hundred times.
  • The story is mostly dogshit. It just looks at snapshots from Edwards life without any strong plot cohesion. I often had no idea if 2 months or 10 years had passed since the last mission. The modern day stuff is a nice diversion but it only makes the story even more disjointed.

I like them but

  1. It made me sad that they dropped actually having a plot. (I know opinion is divided)
  2. There are waaaaaay too many games
  3. The games are too big and filler.
Don't get me wrong, more gameplay can be a great thing.

But Ass Creed's game design seems to be half an hour of fucking around wasting time for every half hour of fun. And the collectibles seem to be vomited out on the map with no real thought or design.

I grew up loving 100%ing games and Ass Creed was actually the series that broke me of that.

I 100%ed Ass creed 2, Brotherhood, Revelations and 3. Then doing 3 was so boring I was like "Why the fuck am I doing this?" and never felt an urge to 100% a game again.

I also HATE that they introduced levels and tiered armor/weapons. That's bullshit.

My level 14 knife should not respect your level 37 throat if I sneak up on you. That's just grindy and makes 89% of the map unusuable in an open world game.

I couldn't stand Origins for this reason

But all whining aside. Yeah I think they're fun games. I love stealth games, I like the parkour and free-roaming. I liked the story ideas. I like the art design.

It's just a shame that the entire series to this day seems to be "Good ideas, bad execution." for every entry
