Someone editing the page for the mayors of the 50 largest cities in the U.S. wants people to think that Honolulu has a population of over one million. I looked it up and that's not even the metro population, so it's not like some well meaning person got confused.

I checked the edit history, and it's been up since last summer. Kind of surprised that no one has corrected it since then. I'm a little curious as to how long this can last for.

On the Honolulu page under metro it says 950k, 1m isn't that far off

Oh actually, I checked the Talk page and it looks like the number is for Honolulu County, which is what the "mayor" actually governs as there is no mayor of Honolulu proper. Still probably shouldn't be listed that way.

Louisville, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Nashville, and Honolulu have consolidated city-county governments where the mayor is elected by residents of the entire county, not just that of the main city; in these cases the population and respective rank are for the county.

There is no Honolulu proper. The county and Honolulu are coterminous.

edit: to clarify a bit more, Hawaii does not have incorporated cities. So there is no "city" of Honolulu except the county.
