I have looked at one episode (the COVID one he did after the very beginning when the disease was still somewhat epidemic lol) and seen bits and pieces of other, dude has some characters but he ain't even that interesting and his style is dry as Las Vegas.

Long form interviews I believe. People behaving with more sincerity then in your classic 5 minute tv interview - there's no need to quickly get an answer out before you're cut off with another question either

He's loud, controversial and a comedian. That's enough

A somewhat dumb guy who has on SOME great guests for extended conversations. Particularly some of the comedians (mostly the New York comics and New York transplants to LA), some science people, random celebs and authors.

I don't care for the COVID takes or whining about cancel culture and wokeness. I remember when the show was a bit more fun and up and coming. When it had sub 1 million subs on Youtube.

Joe has his problems but he is much more tame than what the media is portraying him as. They've only just decided that he's the man with the money bags and deserves to be taken down, because media is in a downward spiral. There isn't a single anchor or media personality with an audience size approaching Joe.

(I am not a mega fan. I listen to 1 or 2 of his pods a month)

Im always on the fence with this. Cause I get not wanting to allow people to openly guide millions the wrong direction. But the people who attack him seem just as ignorant about what's going on as they claim he is about other stuff.

He's got some cool weird shit on there sometimes. I listened to a guy on his podcast go on for like an hour about the wild pig problems going on in the US. It was something new at least that you won't hear on big stream media because it's such a niche thing. With that, he's largely dependent on his guest and my interest in what they're talking about.

Usually the guests. Rogan himself is very boring, and if he doesn't have an entertaining or informative guest on it's a dud.

He has had like 1000 guests on his show or more, find one you are interested in and give it a listen

The 5 foot mediocre comedian, Josh Rogaine.

While I dont love all of his guests (Bari Weiss and Adam Conover can eat shit), he has some amazing guests and discussions to listen to.

The mainstream media wont touch any topic they might anger a sponsor or large shareholder, and theyre still using that tires dinosaur format or sound bites and talking heads talking over each other and yelling at each other. They think they can control what people think and believe. Those days are long gone.

Well, when I used to think we was cool, the four major factors were:

1. Calling out Carlos Mencia on stage.
2. The argument with Lydia Lunch.
3. Making fun of the guys trying to clean up spilled ice in the UFC ring
4. Almost beating up Johnathan Barker on Fear Factor.

If you dont hate him hes had quite a few interesting and enjoyable conversations with some interesting people over the last 10+ years.

I've seen bits and pieces of his podcast over the years and they were either funny, interesting, or featured great stories (Joey Diaz being a favorite).

People dogpile now because it's the easy thing to do, but he seems to have a solid podcast with guests people actually care to watch.

It's the whole "average guy just trying to have honest conversations from people who come from all walks of life" thing.

This is, of course, not what the show actially is. But people who like it think it is.

It's like people think we have a Constitution and Bill of Rights or something and like Spotify can do what it wants as a company. Crazy, I know!

Before he decided his role in life was to stir shit up he used to have really unusual guests on to talk about interesting topics in a long form sort of way. That was cool. Pity.

If you had the opportunity to shoot the breeze with scientists, industry renowned game designers, billionaires, politicians, basically anyone doing something interesting with their lives, why would you say no?

A lot of the noise surrounding Joe is because the news model of paying prime time guys 10-20 million a year to brainwash people into wars and division is failing. Trump is out of office and ratings nosedived at most of the networks. Why else do sex scandals and convenient scandals seem to get people fired or suspended at an increasing pace? Matt Lauer, Megan Kelly, Whoopie Goldberg, Cuomo, O'Reilly etc. These companies are severing ties with a lot of these people.

I love the spin this take has that characterises the only possible explanations for Joe Rogan's bad press is a) there is a conspiracy to take down brave ideas, or 2) NPC's don't even know what they're mad about

They aren't necessarily brave ideas. He's just a big independent voice that is more relevant than any talking head on the networks. Prime time guy at Fox (is that Tucker Carlson?) is the only on-air person approaching Joe in views.

He has had some interesting guests, but he also hosts garbage right wing grifters. There are plenty of other people I can watch that have interesting guests (or just cut out the middle man and listen to/read things from those guests themselves) that don't allow actual disinformation on their platform
