Fresh cigarette smoke doesn't smell that bad at all. Stale cigarette smell in clothes or furniture absolutely reeks.

Alcohol doesn't smell much worse with a hangover than it does without one.

Oddly, I've always really liked the smell of cigarettes themselves, like if you hold one unlit and smell it. And even the smoke from a being-smoked cig isn't that bad.

But yeah, 'old smoke' sucks. It's like it becomes more concentrated as it ages or something.

Old cigarette smoke is vile. I used to work with someone that was a really heavy smoker and, in the winter, they would hang their coat by their desk and it just reeked of years of smoke.

I used to smoke but haven't in years. I still love the smell. After a hangover though the smell of booze isn't for me.

I've always loathed cigarette smoke. It might be because both my parents smoked when I was a kid (though my mother quit when I was still relatively young and my father eventually stopped smoking in the house), or it might be something basic and biological that's always been part of my makeup, but it's the main reason I never even remotely considered smoking as a teen/adult and always found it to be a disgusting habit. Which later extended to marijuana as well.

I've actually passed on dating women who were heavy smokers because of it. HUGE turn off for me.
