Wondering if I should add this game to the backlog after some comments mentioned the game is actually really good.

Yes, its a fantastic game with an excellent story

If you're adding it to your backlog, you're better off waiting. It's gonna keep dropping in price and it sucks when you see a game you bought, but haven't played yet now at a lower price.

Damn that glowing? I been looking for games to add to the backlog and play over the next few years and an action adventure would be a nice break from the open world rpgs I have got.

It is an action adventure right? What's the gameplay like? I tried playing the switch cloud demo and it ran so poorly I just noped out and couldn't get a good feel for the game.

Its a cinematic linear game with some branching paths and rpg elements

the standout aspect of the game is the presentation, story, characters, as well as how your choices affect the story in unexpected ways

gameplay is light puzzle solving and platforming, while combat is more western RPG with commanding your team and managing attack cooldown

Theres a good variety of environments, lots of different enemies and some fun boss fights

i will say objectively there is some jank to the combat, but the presentation, voice acting, characters, etc really elevated the whole experience for me. It felt like a 15 hour Marvel movie. Oh also it is very funny

Its not really either. Technically your main weapon is guns but you lock on automatically. Its more of an action RPG where combat is about managing the cooldowns for special attacks and using environmental hazards to your advantage

Have you played FFXV before?

I'm in the middle of playing it. Definitely a good game. Seems to take bits and pieces from the comics and the movies as far as the personalities. plus something hilarious about quill tricking rocket into an argument of just barking at each other.

Hell yes! Amazing game

The action is ok. Like a 7/10 at best. Story and voice acting is a 10/10.

Great game. The nonstop banter is great, the story is great, the combat is more than serviceable, and the graphics look great. Don't expect anything special with the game play, but the rest is top notch.

Gameplay is grating near the end of the game. Just wanted it to end. First few hours are great though.

Yeah there are parts near the end of the game that if you don't do certain things in the story choices, some fights are longer and harder to deal with.

So torn right now. On the one hand, people are praising the story and characters/voice acting which I'm definitely into.

40% sounds a bit low to me. I'd wait for 50 to 60.

Square Enix makes good games. Tomb raider reboot, Final Fantasy 14 reborn, Intergrade , life is strange series, nier, world ends with you sequel, etc.

Avengers disappoints and all of a sudden theyre risky

I actually may grab this because of this topic.

I initially wrote it off because of Avengers as well, but I absolutely recommend Guardians of the Galaxy. A fantastic game, it's what you get when you actually focus on making a single-player game instead of live-service BS.

Ok so I think I will, just one final note is there going to be DLC and thus a "complete edition" later? Or is it a one and done story game like god of war 2018

There hasnt been any DLC announced, it seems like there wont be any

the story is well-contained

It is on sale for $20 at Gamefly right now. Used, but Gamefly cases generally come in great condition in my limited experience.

I wouldn't get it used, but if the game was half off after only a few months and it's by the same people as avengers which is on sale for $15, then odds are gotg will go that low as well so I'll just add it on my list for now until it drops again whilst I work through my backlog
