If it were just vaccines, that would be one (very bad) thing. But it's reflective of his broader shtick on just about every issue. He's either doing this feigned machismo act or providing a gloss of intellectualism to the things his fans (who he gained by refusing to use trans students' pronouns) already believe.

Yeah, that's pretty silly too. If I wanted to, I could look at the interview to see what he says more in depth, but that premise was already so bad that it's not worth it lol

He's basically a Fox News talking head but he is more educated than actual Fox News people so the anti-SJW Joe Roganites latched onto him for awhile. He's largely disappeared since he went crazy(Or crazier) after becoming addicted to pills

he also became famous in the first place by fear-mongering about a transgender protection bill

It put trans people in the protected class category, similar to Indiginous, black, gay people etc.

Peterson claimed it was some fascist law that if you misgender someone you get put under the jail system or some nonsense.

There is no one I "look up to". People are people, they shouldn't be idolized or put on pedestals. That's part of the problem with people like Rogan and Peterson. Their followers are so fucking empty and hollow that they try and fill themselves with their ideas, but then when they turn out to be idiots about certain subjects, the follower can't allow themselves to acknowledge it because it means they've based their views on someone who doesn't know what the fuck they are talking about.

So far as intellectuals whose writing I enjoy and whose ideas I generally agree with go I can give you a few. Marcus Aurelius if you can consider him one. Umberto Eco, Guy Debord (specifically his work Society of Spectacle), Bertrand Russell, Howard Zinn, Peter Kropotkin. Mostly though I'm a blue collar dude from blue collar background going back over a hundred years (There are people in my family tree that fought at Blair Mountain) so I mostly prefer the speeches or writings of early labor organizers or civil rights activists. Bill Haywood, Eugene V Debs, Bobby Seale, Fred Hampton. But again, they are just people, full of ideas, both good and bad.

From what little I've seen of him recently he's not nearly as sharp as he was only a few years ago. He also seems to have picked up some dumbass fringe beliefs along the way.

This is a piece written by Bernard Schiff, a former friend, colleague, and the dude who got him his job at the University of Toronto. It's a bit long but it's quite a revealing take on Peterson's downfall from beloved professor to lunatic who believes his wife has prophetic dreams.

What happens with these online political celebrities is, they cultivate an audience, and then the audience cultivates them. If you build yourself a brand as a certain type of thinker, deviation from that means potentially alienating your followers but probably won't gain you any new ones among people who know your previous work. The incentives are to give the people what they want - and become a caricature of yourself.

Peterson is the third Bagdanoff brother. All three are liked by roughly the same people and they cover the same sort of area in academia with roughly the same amount of success.
