If you kill all your fellow Immortals you get The Prize, which is you become the same as the source. Most immortals, even the good ones - wish for The Prize.
When enough immortals die, all the remaining immortals shall be drawn to The Gathering and shall kill each other until there is only one.
The last one will have the power of all the immortals who ever lived. Enough power to rule planet earth forever.

There was a huge plot hole when a non immortal can chop off the heads of immortals. Even if you are the only one left, you can still die.

I always wondered about that. If you decapitate an immortal, do you get zapped by the quickening, abd become an immortal too? Do you get zapped by incompatible quickening and die? Nothing happens, and you continue as normal?

If not they simply grow old and die like everyone else.

And then come back in a really old body, which would suck!

Also, TV SHOW SPOILER Richie becoming immortal completely screws up the whole point of the Immortals.

If not they live and die like everyone else.

Though not being fully immortal, other immortals still can sense you.

Also I recall when Duncan was a newb stabbing some lady he had a thing for just so she can become immortal.

I'm aware of all that. It doesn't refute my point, though. If Immortals can continue to be born throughout all of history then they'll never be "only One" because their numbers are no longer finite.

It also takes away from the point of them using swords as opposed to more modern weaponry.

Anyway I break the stuff up into two different universes or timelines.

Connor - Highlander, The Final Dimension, The Quickening.

Duncan - TV Show, Endgame, The Source.

But Endgame was both Connor and Duncan...

I love Highlander, but I challenge anyone to provide an example of another fantasy "universe" with shittier continuity. I even liked Highlander 2, ffs, but omfg there's zero consistency other than the fact that they change the rules every time they want to put out another movie.

Hollywood reboots everything but somehow, we can't get a Highlander reboot. It's a crime.
