This is just conjecture.

It is not conjecture, it is said that that he had done this in the bible.

Although it is unclear as to exactly what the defining limit was as the bible typically refers to hades and hell are not the same and that Jesus went into hades in the heart of the earth.

You mean evangelical Christians are mostly massive bigots? Color me shocked.

Also, if you want to mod me for this - I grew up in a largely Christian society with Christian ideals of decency. I get to punch up at a power structure I've lived under my whole life.

It does say that Jesus "took the keys of death and Hades" away from Satan, but doesn't really say if he pulled a sickass jailbreak for everyone who was already in there

These topics get confused about Christianity really effing fast. It seems that most of the topic seems to be about catholicism and general denomination related issues and not the religion at it's purity.

Jesus died for all people's sins

Also, jesus went into hell to rescue the souls of those who died before he had come.
So here's the problem with religion in general. Citation needed.

No. Christians put Christians first and everyone else well below, especially atheists. Atheists put everyone around the same level. That's the claim, and that's exactly what the data shows.
That just means atheists don't even have a high opinion of themselves lmao. Its been shown Atheists are one of the most hated groups in America, even in the nonreligious circles

Meanwhile its not surprising that Christians have a high opinion and a holier than thou attitude

Peter 3:1920: (Jesus) "went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spiritsto those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water

There are a few others I think in luke and elsewhere.

Ok but you can't use the bible as a source to prove that things happened that the bible said happened. That would be like using Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone to prove that Hogwarts is real.

Well of course. If you don't specifically match up to their beliefs they claim you worship the devil, going to hell, etc.

Awfully nice of them to judge when the book they proclaim to be real literary says within you shouldn't judge someone else and should be nice to them, and not to push your ideals on anyone else.

Are views clearly conflict then I suppose?

The conversation was about Christianity which was recorded in the bible. I belive in it. If you don't then I can understand that but not why you would want a religous citation from a non religious source, especially if you don't believe in it.

It seems like you would rathar compare Christianity with Harry Potter if anything.

Iirc this came up because you were countering the notion "a lot of people aren't treated fairly and given a chance". Since I don't know the bible really well, what happens to babies that die a few hours after birth, before they gain consciousness to "believe"? Or to people born in parts of the world that have NO exposure to Christianity (like deep in the Amazon)?

I'm an atheist, but I dislike that fundies are Christians seem to be combined, here. Odds are we all know a lot of "casual" Christians, but the article seems to be describing fundies specifically. Grape juice, youth pastor, homeschooled kids who can't watch anime, that kind of thing.

Just because Islam and Judaism is bad, doesn't negate the researchers findings. They were specifically looking at Christians vs Atheists. Just because Kim Jong Un is bad doesn't mean his father wasn't as bad as him.

The researcher's findings with a pitiful sample size of less than 1000 people

Yeah I haven't looked too much into the research itself, but I was just responding to a typical talking points a lot of Christians like to make when Christianity is being talked about.
