The Book of Boba Fett Season 1 complete!

I'm assuming this isn't it because it's being labeled as the season finale and not just the finale, but still, pretty good conclusion to this arc, even if it was the most oddly structured show I've ever watched.

Ah, I forgot about that. Not much point it watching it in broadcast order anymore either.

But regardless, I'd still say Book of Boba Fett is more strangely structured since I do know the episode order for Haruhi's broadcast order. The show just felt all over the place. It spent the first four episodes establishing the main conflict and then completely bailed on it for two episodes to resolve the end of Mandalorian Season 2, and then they give one final episode to resolve the conflict.

It wasn't a bad show by any means, but it's very unusual to have a third of your episodes not feature the title character at all and make them the two best episodes of the show, to boot!

To follow along? Not necessarily. But (spoiler tagging this because, to be frank, I've not had the luxury of time yet today to see what's actually been stated about the game's premise yet) the game is a sequel to both games despite 1 and 2 (mostly) only being connected thematically. This is much more overt. Xenoblade Chronicles' new epilogue stuff is essentially a prequel, it'll make sense later. So basically, you're only seeing all the connections to half the equation if you skip 2, but 3 still tells its own tale in a lot of ways so it's... fine? I guess.

I'm gonna break a bit with user SaveEstelle here and say "Too early to tell but I'd be leaning towards 'not ideal'."

I think we need to see more to tell for sure but based on that trailer I'm gonna say it's not looking great for skipping either game.

XBC1 and 2 spoilers: I mean one of the endgame twists of 2 is that it is directly linked to 1 and the premise of 3 very much appears to be that the endings of both games resulted in a merged world that 3 takes place in and major characters - party members! - of both games seem to have important roles in 3.

Also I didn't know about Triangle Strategy until it was mentioned itt but I took a look at it and the premise seems great so I desperately want this to be a good game.

Xenoblade 3 seems like it heavily ties into Xenoblade 1 and 2. I believe the official stance is it isn't necessary to play either game first. So it is possible Xenoblade 3 will introduce (and spoil!) everything you need to know from the earlier games. But, I think it would be best to place Xenoblade 1 and 2 first.

i can't believe they're actually sticking with Triangle Strategy for the game's name. It feels like such a placeholder.

I hope we get a Project Search Action someday that just becomes Search Action.

i mean, i'm pretty sure krillin being a buddhist monk was already established in the original dragon ball.

Finished Day 3 of TWEWY2 and recruited Nagi. I guess every team member has their own unique "ability." Rindo can rewind time to change events, and it looks like Nagi can "deep dive" into people's minds. Minamimoto is as cryptic as you'd expect, but I wouldn't want anything else!

Also this game just unlocked a Social Network that initially reminds me a lot of the connections thing from Xenoblade (can't think of the exact name offhand), which I loved, so hopefully it'll work in a similar way.

I thought this one was a lot more player-friendly than Xenoblade, though that might be just that the size of Xenoblade made it feel like more of a chore in that game where I basically just ignored the system entirely.

Yeah, the Xenoblade one is massive, but I didn't necessarily mind it.

The nice thing about the Xenoblade one is how it encouraged me to use different party members. Discovered some fun combinations doing that.

Well, given that Im not even willing to sacrifice my work-life balance to stay in academia after graduating apparently not...!

there's always the option of doing research for a corporation!

Thats still a possibility... I actually need to figure it out imminently since I will (hopefully) be graduating this semester!

I do theoretical work though, so Im not sure how many private sector jobs there are doing something similar. The one thing Im thinking of maybe doing is trying to get something in quantum computing (I dont currently do that, but my stuff is somewhat related and theres a lot of money being poured into it now).

I'm in this post and I don't like it.

My read on quantum computing is that those corporations are trying to fill jobs in basically every area of STEM that is even slightly relevant. I suspect that applies to most physicists except maybe like biophysics or something.

Note I don't have firsthand experience talking to companies or anything--this is just what all the professors at my university seem to be saying.

I do AMO/condensed matter theory so Im probably about as close as I could be without literally doing it. Im mostly not clear on what the analytic theory/computation/experiment split of those jobs is (I can do computational stuff but would definitely prefer more analytic stuff if those jobs exist!)

The company I work at (IBM) is working on Quantum Computing. Unfortunately, my position is in a division nowhere near that so I doubt I can actually do anything to help. But, if you do decide that that's something you might want to do, I could try asking around to see if I can get in touch with someone that can help.

Got the dash in Ori 2. It feels like the game has already opened up a ton now that I've got the double jump and the dash.

There's a lot of potential for sequence breaking! Even minor sequence breaking like getting a minor upgrade early through comboing powers rather than using the power you're "supposed" to use. It's a ton of fun. The game's more open than the original Ori in general, too.

Dang, today was a mess of a day for me (lack of sleep going into it, didn't really eat much, more stress and work than usual) but it apparently hit me a few hours earlier like it never has before in my life.

is this my official "i'm getting old" moment?

I've never been good at functioning on little sleep. If I don't get at least 6 hours of sleep, I'm a mess the entire next day. Of course, now knowing I have sleep apnea probably explains that a bit!

Hopefully you aren't getting too old just yet and it's just an exception...!

this makes me wonder: i'm pretty sure gohan learns how to fly during the saiyan saga (presumably during his training with piccolo), so why would he still need flying nimbus to fly that much later?

don't remember if they do explain this or if the explanation is that this was just an anime-only filler episode (the fillers often contain tons of coninuity errors).
