Fun and weird. The humor comes off as more surreal than juvenile, despite it possibly being easy to confuse with an untrained eye.

It was a parody in video game form that didn't have anything quite like it at the time. I don't know how well its aged but I still remember segments of the story to this day that I found quite humourous at that time. The toilet humour is a huge miss for me though and I never like those even when they are done well. I remember that particular song with the aforementioned toilet humour which is just really bad and I imagine I'd like it even less if I viewed that segment now.

As crass as it was and how "we literally can't change the remake much content-wise or else incur copyright law because we ripped off Dracula and Saving Private Ryan wholesale" it was, Conker is legitimately great parody, and a lot of that comes down to how well-written of a character Conker is. As a straight man who gets punished whenever he gets carried away and basically solves video game puzzles like a smartass, not to mention calling genre shifts and video game trends a few years before they happened, it's still some of the best satire of video games as a whole that's out there.

And then there's some grossly dated shit like the cogs, but that core behind Conker is something special that's rarely touched without becoming pretentious.

But somehow, I loved the Great Mighty Poo sequence in Conker. Like a big wad of manure making comments about his butt? OMG YES.

This game is basically Rare's self-deprecating joke that many parents bought for their kids because it had a cute squirrel on it, and it produced many an Internet troll (my mom knew what the "M" stood for though, so I wasn't one of them).

From what I remember playing half this game (never owned it), though, it's consistently amusing even though there's not really much of a story. It's meant to be nonsense.

I'd say 7.5/10
