Paying for dates is only an issue between leftover women and broke men. I have never even had a discussion about it since I was about 19 years old.

If it doesn't really come up until it's actually time to pay, I'll always offer to pay the whole thing on a first date - though if she says she wants to pay half I'll accept that too. Never really had a case where anyone I was dating got pushy about wanting to do it differently; I probably would've walked out on the date (or, if it came to my attention beforehand, not gone on it in the first place) if she did. Basically a "I have no problems with the paying for it part, but if one of the first things you bring up is that you insist I do so, that's a red flag about you in general" train of thought.

Exactly. I have never once had a woman state that I am paying before the check comes. I just quietly pay it, or ultimately split it if they insist.
