I like the police station setting better than the mansion from RE1 I think. Maybe it helps that I played a lot of Dead By Daylight and am somewhat familiar with that map

OG RE2 is so fucking good.
Absolutely one of the games that I feel are "mandatory" for fans of games

Ressie remake 2 is the best I feel.

Re2make bugs me cause I could legitimately speed run the og game and do no heal runs easy.

In the remake I can't even unlock infinite weapons beyond the smg.

OG >>>>> RE2make, but they're really apples to oranges.

Both are great.

The police station part of the remake is so good. It hits that sweet spot of feeling like the old game while also being totally new.

RE2 is great

Fun fact about RE2

Originally the police station was much more, gray realistic and generic (in the REAL OG Resident Evil 2. Now refered too as 1.5)

The game was roughly 50% complete but the devs hated it and thought it wasn't holding up. So they literally started over and went with the wooden "It used to be an Art Museum" police station thing.

The 1.5 version has since leaked but considering it's unfinished and badly programmed with no voice acting, it's kinda unplayable

This is back when it was a relatively new game but iirc 1 hour 46 was my best.

Which I'm sure has been smashed repeatedly by actual speed runners but at the time I got some mag that had a buncha people run it and I was 6 minutes faster than anyone in the magazines runs.

Holy crap its been done in sub 50 mins.

Maybe an hour and 46 mins isn't even a speed run. Lol

Well I've probably gotten about 4 hours in and am nowhere near the end I'm sure lol

My first playthrough was for sure over 8 hours id imagine.

It was close to 10 on re2make

Leons weapons are a hell of a lot better in the OG

Resident Evil 2 is one of those PS1 games that feels timeless to me. Have fun TC.

OG RE2 was the only RE game I got S rank in.

It bothers me how good OG RE2 is just running past most things..

OG RE2 is great. Leon and Claire's relationship is vastly different from REmake2.

nah i played it for the first time about a year ago and it was amazing

Biggest tip for RE2MAKE unlocks on hard is not to click continue when you die

Quit out and reload

it takes you back to your last save either way and if you continue , that gets added to your time

i'm still stuck in the police station

Just made it to The Sewers last night right before fighting a giant Alligator. Looks like I'm about 75% of the way through if going by the table of contents of a walkthrough.

I don't generally follow Walkthroughs unless I'm really stuck but sometimes I'll open one just to see if I can figure out how far along I am in a game

Started remake last night. Got a little scary

the remake is definitely a good bump up atmosphere wise and the scenario A design is a really nice modern take on the original without compromising a lot. Wish i could say the same for the B scenario, but overall they compliment each other very well in their own ways.

I personally think you are not fulling playing the game then. Thats all Ill say, but the original does a much better job of giving each character an unique route.

Is there really that much of a difference in the campaigns? I always thought the playthrough was mostly the same with some minor changes.

I'm not a big fan of replaying a game immediately after I beat it, so I try to avoid things like that. If it's drastically different though maybe I'll go back to Claire's file

Imo, yes. Its quite different. Claire and Leon have stories structured in a way that their events happen simultaneously in the original.

Remake doesnt really do this. Its not overly important, but you are missing a bit of the game imo not running Claires.

I wouldnt say drastically different, but there are some key differences when it comes to the story, item and enemy placements and there are some new areas and bosses (in general the B scenario is noticeably more difficult). its roughly 80% the same, but the game is designed around the two storylines for the two different characters so to actually see the real ending (and what goes on with the other character) you pretty much have to play the other characters' B scenario.

This is one area the REmake kinda screwed up. the differences are not as big as they are in the original and they dont do a great job of interconnecting the 2 storylines. instead they take bits and pieces and try to put them into the A scenario which doesnt work as well.

I guess its a good thing I decided to leave the side piece for Claire

In Re2make you only need to play twice. And yeah sure it's 90% the same again but I just think that's better game design.

B scenarios are still fun. Just not mandatory for story completion.

You can just look up the different story bits on youtube
