The other factor for me is that when the Wall Street Journal is writing articles about the size of the school's endowment, I'm not going to take those contribution letters from the alumni office too seriously.

I used to because I got full rides for both undergrad and grad school, but neither school is hurting for money and donating a couple times to each was enough to ease my conscience
