This is what makes the not-so-amazing spiderman movies so damn disappointing in addition to bad, he was supposed to represent us and he was the worst one of the bunch with the worst movies, worst portrayals, worst everything.

It's not much the matter of generation culture, its just that they are very different spidermen and Peter Parkers.

Tobey spider was actually the struggling, awkward hero.

Andrew garfield was handsome, charismatic and very successful at dating.

Tom Holland spiderman also didn't show much of his struggles, he had ironman for mentor and even his suit given to him. Most of his story was chasing MJ and not much of anything else.

If you look at all the other heroes like thor, ironman, hulk, fantastic 4, they are all very successful when they are not fighting the bad guys.

Tobey delivered pizzas and struggled with paying bills in a shitty apartment and constantly shat on by Mary Jane dating his best friend.

Or maybe... Tobey Spiderman is gen x but for the benefit of millenials, and andrew gar spiderman is for the benefit of gen z, which would make sense why he's so bad.

But that would make tom holland spiderman... for the benefit of gen alpha 0_0 (which is really still gen z for all intents and purposes)

Tf? A lot of millennials grew up with the Tobey Trilogy. The first Amazing Spider-Man came out after I graduated high school and Im considered a millennial.

Millennials grew up with Tobey, yes, but the character is obviously Gen X, and that was clear at the time.

Plus those movies even felt like they were set "10 years in the past" because cell phones and internet weren't big plot points and they looked like movies from the 80s and 90s.

Sounds like you're projecting the entire decade on 2002. Not even myspace existed when the first movie came out. Cell phones would be used for calls only and unlikely to be owned by most high schoolers.

Yeah Tobey was closer to the cartoon of the 90s who was already an adult, and that was a good decision to have him not in high school throughout the movie and series run

I'm a millennial and I was 6 when Tobey's Spiderman came out. If anything, the 90's cartoon was Gen X, Tobey's Spiderman is Millenials, Garfield's Spiderman was Gen Y and Holland's Spiderman was Gen Z
