The T-Shirt example doesnt make any sense.

I didn't say anything about a T-shirt. I said something about paying a graphic designer to make a custom Metaverse skin based on a screenshot, which is basically what you said, only without the transaction's value being magically inflated somehow because an NFT is involved.

But NFTs are here, they arent leaving. Rebelling wont have any affect. So now its about learning the technology so you and other gamers can navigate the system to your own benefit and make realistic requests, and provide altruistic guidance to developers who are now forced to include NFT & Meta integration into their games.

Alternatively, I can say they're stupid, explain why they're stupid to people that are tying to pretend they aren't, and stick to buying games that haven't gutted their overall experience for the sake of making the publisher a quick buck. It's worked for lootboxes (buying only games that are enjoyable without spending money on thinly-veiled gambling mechanics), it's worked for microtransactions (buying only games that are enjoyable without paying for solutions to problems the publishers created), it's worked for DLC (avoiding games where the DLC is necessary to have an enjoyable experience, not buying DLC where I'm satisfied without spending extra), and it will work for whatever nonsense ends up happening with NFT's. Much like loot boxes and the like, the really egregious examples are only going to be coming out of the corporate cesspool that is the AAA gaming industry, and I haven't bought into much of that stuff for several years now. I can be entertained just fine sticking to games made by people that don't actively despise people that play games to have fun.

Furthermore, the vast majority of gamers are not going to be able to work the system to their benefit. This is true of any RMT model. Whatever economy arises around NFT's, the only people that benefit appreciably will be those that put significant effort into it (spending large amounts of time grinding for things to sell, spending significant amounts of time playing the market (which will require substantial capital to start)) or those that end up finding something exceptionally rare to sell. That's the simple nature of supply and demand: Demand remains constant relative to the player base, while the supply is going to be largely dictated by a relatively small number of players that have deliberately put effort into controlling it. Those that are just buying a game to entertain themselves are going to be lucky to make back their purchase cost.

smh I fell for a joke topic.

I guess making a topic about the actual poll of the day, on the "poll of the day" message board does qualify as a joke topic. Irony, eh?

Yea, you can do that. I guess my argument is that its a futile battle. A better way would be to start devising strategies to regulate it, and work with devs to create a system that is mutually beneficial and wont cause a lengthy, but ultimately futile revolt of the playerbase -- which is what gamers should have done during the rise of microtransactions back in 2014.

We all agree with you that capitalism is trying to consistently screw the general public by artificially inflating values of goods and services while painting them in a way to increase desirability.

Yea, I just "rage against the machine" by playing the system to my personal benefit, and teaching others how to use it to their own benefit. You learn the fault in it's stars, and take advantage of it. Knowledge is power and all of that jazz.

You seem to "rage" by yelling at it over the internet. To each their own :-/

Lmfao. Imagine thinking that because a person posts on the internet, they dont engage in any other way in society. Moreover, if accurately describing capitalism without any profanity is rage and yelling, you may not want to hang around message boards much as you will get your sensitive feelings hurt.

You really are the worst gimmick ever to visit POTD.

You really dug into the semantics of that post, and gave it some really sinister intention. Feel free to tell me how else you are raging against the machine. I'm interested.

What gimmick? Its a single post about NFT's because that is what the poll was about. You just call everyone with an unpopular board opinion a gimmick?

No, I call your gimmick a gimmick because its a gimmick. And a bad one at that. You arent interested in me. You are interested in insulting me and talking about crypto. Youre also interested in belittling those who point out the obvious flaws in NFTs.

Its a bad gimmick man.
