Despite the negative reception to 3, it's my favorite sequel.

there was originally going to be two killers, Roman and Angelina. Some of the scenes kinda hint to it plus her supposed death was off screen and looked awfully similar to when Roman faked his.

all the sequels had flaws but so far there are no genuinely bad scream films
3 is considered the worst but its still decent. so i have high hopes for that scream 5 will be decent but it doesnt really have anything to say

scream 2 was a commentary on sequels
scream 3 was a commentary on trilogy
scream 4 was a commentary on reboots
scream 5 doesnt seem like it has anything to comment on.

I don't particularly care for any of them

I went for four. Four and Two are both great, but some of the developments in Four just give it the edge for me.

Three is utter shite.

Scream 5 may comment on immortal franchises

After Scream 4 they had a tv show on mtv for 3 seasons I think, they could comment on that?

none of them come anywhere near what the first one achieved. I think the point of the movie has been rather ironically lost on subsequent subgenerations of moviegoers. It's brimming with homages, self-awareness, commentary on the supernatural, quotable dialogue, and doesn't pull any punches on its cast even from the first 15 minutes of the movie. Scream is arguably the essential slasher film.

I haven't seen Season 3 yet. The first 2 were brilliant. They encorporated every trope that just didn't fit with the original model.

i didnt like emma as a main character
but seasons 3s main character was so bad emma seemed like sidney prescott in comparison
never thought anyone would make me want emma back but then season 3 aired

i got modded for a topic about the scream series when it was airing
for most of season 1 the only ones who died were characters credited as recurring
the main cast was left untouched

so late into the season i made a topic titled something like "wow so scream finally decided to kill off a main character SPOILERS!!"

i got modded for spoilers with no warning even though i had a spoiler warning in the topic title.
so i contested the moderation and the mod told me my topic title itself was a spoiler cause it revealed someone died.

but the thing is that scream is a slasher series and characters dying is a major part of the premise so i didnt think what i typed was enough to count as a spoiler
i felt strongly enough to contest the moderation again and the next in line to look over my contest actually agreed with me

saying that in any other context it would be a spoiler with no warning but since it was a slasher show just saying a character dies isnt enough of a spoiler

Yeah, I've gotta say, I wouldn't class "somebody dies" as a spoiler for Scream.
