He's an ass in the early seasons. He mellows out as the show goes on.

Remember when they suddenly invites an Israeli intelligence officer to solve crimes involving the American army?

A couple episodes into the first season he threatens to send two American citizens (of color) to Guantanamo Bay if they don't cooperate with the investigation. And he's treated like a badass for saying that.

It's definitely a product of 9/11

NCIS is a spin-off of JAG and both shows were aimed at one audience: Nationalist boomers

I watched JAG when I was in my teens >_>

I just liked courtroom stuff.

I remember one episode where Gibbs had amnesia and how they helped get his memory back was tell him about 9/11. That was like ten or so seasons ago at this point as I stopped watching this show long ago.

his actor and abby's actor would not work together during her final season on the show and all their scenes had to be filmed separate

he liked to bring his big ass dog to the set. the crew were afraid of the dog and once eventually got bite and needed stitches abby's actor sided with the crew and gibbs actor would not stop bringing the dog.

and dinozzo's actor sexually harassed faith from buffy on the set of his own show bull or something its called.
anyway she was forced to quit the show for speaking out against the harassment and then sued the company for several million dollars and won

Part of the reason why this scene is laughably bad and often used as an example of clich Hollywood hacking.

his head slapping pisses me the fuck off. I would not tolerate that from anyone personally. That being said, DiNozzo deserves it most of the time.

"Assault". People need to stop claiming nonsense like this is "Assault". It's a tap on the back of the head. Obviously don't do it all the time, but now and then its fine to make sure people are paying attention. Next your going to tell me that tapping someone on the forehead telling them to use their brain is assault.

Christ... back when I was growing up, stuff like this was normal and we weren't arresting or firing people for stuff like this. There are way too many snowflakes these days.

This is the only NCIS show I don't like. Everything else in this CBS "universe" is good: Los Angeles, New Orleans, Hawaii, JAG and Hawaii 5-O were/are great.

I'm 36. I grew up in the 90s, graduating in 03'. So no, I'm not either. I'm also Atlantic Canadian, and our laws on this kind of thing are a bit more lax than other places.

There is no edge to it. You fire someone because they don't know how to do their job, or constantly are at odds with other staff, not because of a love tap on the back of the head because someone isn't thinking straight, or is spacing out which can cause a bigger issue especially if they are handling equipment. Again, as I said before, you don't do it all the time, but to call it "Assault" is ridiculous. It can be viewed as wrong, and management should talk to them about it, but they aren't "Assaulting" you.

And that would be a fair way to approach it, but it shouldn't be a direct firing, and at the same time, it shouldn't be classified as assault.

I don't understand people claiming the scene is unintentionally hilarious.

It's clearly a joke, not Hollywood failing to understand computers.

And it's really funny.

People pretending it's the same as the "GUI Interface" scene in CSI are being very silly.
