I'm currently on the final chapter of Ys lX: Monstum Nox. In the past couple months I've also played Lacrimosa of Dana, Memories of Celceta and Ys Orgin. All of which were great.

I can't believe I slept on this series for so long.

I'm probably gonna check out the earlier games too, even if it might be a step back from what I've played so far.

Yeah, the music in Monstrum Nox is pretty decent but not as good as Lacrimosa of Dana.

This has become one of my all time favourite video game tunes.

I tried Ys I back in 2014 or so. Didn't like it (didn't hate it, but felt other games were more worth my attention at the time). Played it for like 5 minutes. Came back a few months ago and beat it. It's so short. I immediately went to Ys 2. Still in the very beginning, because fuck that dungeon and it's lack of a map lol. I took a break in the dungeon and came back a few days later and forgot where I am and wtf I was doing. Guess I should look at a map lol. I bought Ys 8 recently. I might just jump to that one unless I decide to get Memories first.

Action RPG with good settings and characters. Lots of side quests and really fun battle system. The newer games have a base building aspect to it as well where you recruit characters that'll provide different services. You can also engage in special raid type battles where you can fortify different defenses to help you out.

I actually played Ys 8 right before I played Tales of Arise. Part of the reason I didn't really like ToA game play was because it felt like a step down compared to Ys 8.

I plan on checking that out eventually. I've got a Vita so I can get the PSP games on that.

I'm probably gonna play Ark of Napishtim next because I already own it on PS2. I bought it when it came out but never played more than 30 mins of it.

I never played anything else from the series until a few months ago.

Played Ys 4 last year, it was pretty fun. Like a slightly weaker 7.

Now all I have left are Ys 8 and Ys 9. Very excited as Ys 8 will be the first outright console Ys game and not a psp/vita game.

Unless they ever decide to remake Ys 5.

Ark is the weakest of the modern ys but it's still alright

I & II are pretty dated with that bump system

It's a fun game.

I did my first playthrough as Yunica. I'll probably do my second run later on this year as Hugo.
