Normalization and/or virtue signalling. You need to know the person to really be able to guess which.

I'm guessing it's to help normalize it so that people will feel more comfortable presenting the pronouns they feel most comfortable with/to help avoid potential offense

yeah. specifically, to normalize not assuming anyone's gender and pronouns.

I think its to normalize the idea of making pronouns explicitly clear rather than assuming based on how a person presents. We can avoid stress over pronouns by making them known up front.

Outside of a few places that are mostly holdovers from the older days of the internet (such as, well, CE), this assumption really doesn't work very well anymore.

I assume everyone here is nonbinary unless they have their pronouns in their sig. That should be the default.

Gamefaqs needs to mandate pronouns next to usernames.

I don't put my pronouns anywhere. It's immediately obvious I'm a man. Anyone who goes 'well you didn't tell me your pronoun so I'm defaulting to they' is being purposefully obtuse.

I put mine in my sig because a guy was losing his shit about a person having their pronouns in their sig a couple months ago. So basically I just put them there to annoy people.

as others have said, i do it with my work signature so those who "need" to specify theirs don't feel weird about it.

Its like having username flair. Its a bit of expression that you can make as unique as you want and grab some attention.
