Feels like it was written by people that either don't understand Picard the character or are actively trying to destroy him as a character because that's the "cool" thing to do nowadays. Hopefully these vampires never touch DS9, imagine these hacks trying to write a character like Garak today.

I shudder to think what they'd do with Kira, a self-admitted terrorist.

Feels more like Patrick Stewart REEEEALLY wanted to return to the role, but there was no story to tell so they just made some shit up.

No one involved, including Stewart, actually understood the character of Picard.

This. These new shows seem written by people who not only aren't Star Trek fans, but hate ST.

This too. Stewart thinks Picard is an action hero who rides around in dune buggies.

I haven't seen Picard admittedly, but this take seems odd to me.

Like, there are plenty of actors I'd accuse of that sort of nonsense but Patrick Stewart is really not one of them.

I'm not denying the charge, it just seems wildly out of character.

Remember the dumb dune buggy scene in Nemesis? It was supposedly put in because Stewart loves offroading and such. And I mean, he's been OK with some of those bad TNG movies and Picard where Captain Picard acts out of character and is more of a typical action guy.

I haven't seen the show but I can definitely see Picard being highly aloof in his retirement. It sounds to me like you guys wanted something of a bitter and broken old man who hates the world instead.

I liked it. Certainly nothing as bad as what they did to Kirk.

I just didn't like the aesthetic of everything if anything. Star Wars is still able to make it feel like the universe from the OT with their sets and whatnot.

They want the world of Star Trek to be bad and racist because they dislike our current world, which I think misunderstands star trek

Actually I think she'd be safe since she was an anti fascist

What southernfatman said.

Captain's Holiday? That was because Stewart wanted Picard to be more Kirk like, Starship Mine (aka Die Hard on the Enterprise)? His influence. He might have played Picard fantastically, but everytime he got any creative control it's been to the detriment of the show.

No, we want Captain Picard and the world of ST that we know. They can change a bit and characters can develop, but what we got is like a whole different series.

You talking about the fans or the writers? Because it's defintiely the writers doing that.

Current ST writers would do something like make her a higher up of the Bajoran government that also has turned fascist and crushing supposed "dissidents", making Kira turn into the very thing she fought against. That's the kind of dumb drama they'd want.

Ok, I see what you mean.

Stewart is an incredible actor, kind of a terrible director, maybe a little bit of a seven year old?
