Because there generally aren't 50-100 new albums that I'm interested in each year. I'm not about to sit through a random album every week just to see if I like it.

Now that I think about it, I've just lost a lot of interest in music over the years. Now, I'm just going to be an old man and stick to what I like. I'm still open minded and I do like new stuff, but I don't actively go looking for it much.

I don't listen to full albums at all and I'm not really that interested in constantly exploring new songs. I prefer single songs and stuff I already know I like. Music is like a tertiary hobby for me.

nobody is saying to go for albums that are completely outside of the realm of what interests you. even if you stuck to one or two genres, that's still dozens if not hundreds likely good albums. although it would probably do you good to listen to stuff outside of your very narrow tastes. can't be listening to c-pop and k-pop all the time

I don't know that until I listen to the album. But for me, it's easier to listen to single releases on YouTube, find songs that stand out to me, and then look for albums from those specific artists. As opposed to just picking a new album from the genre at random and seeing if I like it.

I don't listen to enough people that release whole albums... Usually just people who release a single now and then...

Most of the time I listen to an album, even from people I like, I only find 1 or 2 songs worth listening too...

i'm into more than enough genres(some of which you probably haven't even heard of) and yet i still know finding a song i would love and keep on repeat within those genres is incredibly small.

as far as time:entertainment ratio, there are far better things to spend time on than listening to random albums again just to say you've been able to hit a milestone.

I don't keep track of how many albums I listen to but I'm positive I listened to more than that in the past year. Whenever I hear a song from an artist that I really like I go on a deep dive of all the albums they've ever made and have them playing while I'm working on other stuff
