SMT1/SMT2 are pretty old games that a lot of people won't find accessible due to being first person dungeon crawlers with fuck-you spawn rates and basic combat.

A lot of fans started with SMT Nocturne, the game that created the 'Featuring Dante from DMC' meme. That one holds up really well. It's on Switch now. SMT IV on 3DS is also really accessible, and well so is V really. Can't go wrong with any of them.

If you're into SRPGs like Fire Emblem then there's also Devil Survivor on 3ds which is considered fantastic.

If first person hallway dungeon crawling where everything feels hopeless and terrifying actually sounds appealing to you, the modern take on that is SMT Strange Journey, again on 3DS.

in addition to the games doe mentioned, i highly recommend soul hackers (this is an older game that got remade on 3ds, it's a little dated but it has so much charm and is always a blast to play though) and digital devil saga (this game is on ps2, it plays more like a traditional rpg and imo has one of the best settings of any megaten)
