What's "extreme" about thinking that a frightened animal that just wants to live, shouldn't be executed against its will?

I feel like people also exaggerate how often vegans let you know that they're vegan

"Extreme" is relative to the norm. Many things that we'd consider extreme to oppose today, were once considered extreme to support, and vice versa.

I kinda feel like this one has reached the point where it's looped back around and now I see more cases of vegans mocking the idea that non-vegans exaggerate this, than I see of non-vegans exaggerating it.

Hard to enjoy my food without at least one piece of food that requires suffering on the plate.

If someone invented a method of instantaneously killed an animal and said animal was raised in an environment where it had no reason to be scared, would you eat meat then?

Then your objection to eating meat has nothing to do with "scared little animals" and you should stop fear-mongering because you want to pressure other people into following your completely baseless personal morals. I'll keep doing what we've evolved to do over the entirety of mamilian evolution and eat the creatures that provide the resources that my body has evolved to need.

You had a good point in the first sentence and then you ruined it with the second one. Our bodies havent evolved to require meat and a lot of people are able to stay healthy with just a vegetarian or vegan diet. So it seems like you eating meat is about your basis beliefs as well, which is fine. Just dont act otherwise. I eat meat too and dont try to make any justification for it

Yes they have. This isn't even debatable. We're omnivores.

Would you eat meat if science perfects lab grown meat and that becomes the new meat industry?

Yeah, but what about the poor defenseless plants that can't do a thing as they're plucked from the ground, trees, vines, etc and inserted into someone's mouth and slowly get chewed up into paste.

It totally understand being vegetarian. I feel that I should be vegetarian but lack the self-control.

I don't see a good argument for being vegan.

Cows are impregnated, have their calves taken away from them and turned into veal, and then their milk stolen. How is that ethical?

It's not. Some people just have extreme (heh) adverse reactions to the more militant vegans.

I eat meat, but it's incredibly easy to eat vegan and I do so somewhat regularly.

Humans are paid pennies an hour, endure unsafe conditions, and are routinely abused to harvest your fruits and vegetables. I hope you apply the same ethical scrutiny to them.

They ought to. I'm investing in lab grown meat to change that industry for the better.

Not really on topic, but I could very easily become a vegetarian but I could never become vegan because pretty much all of my meals include dairy

What if I told you almond milk and vegan cheese exist?

If water resources going to be as scarce as people make it seem, the average person may well be priced out of meat. That would be a pretty interesting turn in life.

I mean, they are radical. They're also probably right. I legit can't think of any reason for me to not be vegan, except that I don't want to and it's very inconvenient.

This is a really odd deflection. Are you under the impression that vegans on average don't trend towards leftwing politics and caring about other humans?

We're omnivores.

Thus, we don't require meat. We can eat it, but it's not necessary for survival, or health.

Omnivore is a weird word. Humans can eat meat, but aren't required to. Cats are the opposite. They can eat vegetables, but require meat.

People tend to forget (either accidentally or purposely) the "obligate" part

I think people just consider it extreme because humans are obviously omnivores and there is nothing wrong with consuming animal products within certain measures. Animals slaughter other animals in horrible ways in nature, we humans just overdo it with disgusting mass agriculture.

I've had vegans wish death on me for eating fried chicken(ie laugh as i get a heart attack).

I've also talked to unironic vegan drone strike military apologists. Where they are vegans because of empathy for animals but have no issue with live bombs hitting foreigners.

Just saying there is a misanthropic streak among extreme vegans
