We have yet to really get any news on part 2. All the jokes about the remake never being completed start to feel too true.

Say what you want about the XIII trilogy but at least it took Square just shy of 4 years to release all 3 games in NA/EU (March 2010 - February 2014).

I just hope we get a release date by next year

I just finished part 1 a couple days ago. Beat the whole thing including sidequests in 8 sittings, incredible game.

I think the rest will be next-gen-only and maybe Square is taking their good ol time because no one really has a PS5 yet

I think development is going smoothly since the devs were filming mocap scenes for Part 2 around this time last year. I think 2023 is a safe bet for a release date. Square Enix probably wants people to focus on FF XVI whenever that releases first. Hopefully late next year.

I cant believe it actually turned out fantastic, I thought for sure Square was going to wreck it but tbh so far its better than the original (flame shield)

Honestly the battle system is a lot more fluid than expected. Only exceptions are "this enemy has a shield which stuns you if you hit it/ the thieves dropped electro mines and you hit one" stuff with Cloud. But you have Aerith at that point. *shrugs* She's kinda OP.

Only up to the Corneo Mansion section but it's a quality game.

I wouldn't go that far, but it definitely exceeded all of my expectations. The combat system has more depth than most of the ATB-oriented games

My only gripe was the AI sometimes stands around aimlessly. I wish there was a way to program them ala FFXII but oh well its still my new favorite rpg battle system

It took them at least 5 years to make part 1 so yeah part 2 will be a minimum of 3-5 years.

idk I would have felt like a lot of the heavy lifting is already done since Im sure theyre reusing a ton of work from part 1

What made you guys think part 2 was coming anytime soon? They're probably not working on it as often as you think. Probably sporadically, whenever they get around to it.

Its already been confirmed that development has been in full swing since late 2019 for Part 2.

Part 2 is gonna be 40 hours of Kalm with no flashbacks and you're going to like it.

rumbled rumors suggest it may have a full open world ala the OG

I would put my money on a 4-5 development time.
