If a Xenogears fan is bothering you, just introduce them to an Evangelion fan and tell the pair of them you can't decide which is a superior work of art.

Because the only literature they've consumed is the stuff they were forced to in highschool lol. To be fair though that's the majority of VG story gushers.

Yeah Eva fans are on some different level of dimension in terms of finding meaning in everything that might just be wacky flashes of lights. I dunno if Xenogears fans are that pretentious though. How many of them are even left in the internet world anyways? I think a lot of them generally moved on

Xenogears fans are definitely the type of people who puts plot ahead of everything else.

From what I remember, it didn't really explain a lot of how the battle system works and you can basically just wing it the entire time and beat the game. There's not a lot of choices or options on how the characters develop.

That said, I didn't think it was that great of a game even in terms of the story.

The music is definitely legendary though.

Sounds about right. Japanese games never give the player much of a reason to feel invested.
