I finally thought to schedule my COVID booster shot today, and come to find out that there aren't any openings through my provider (regional hospital system) until late January. For my part, I can't schedule anything that far in advance because of a mix of unrelated health concerns and our HR portal's limitations. I guess people are scared of this new variety. ... Yeah two doses are not super effective against Omicron (~30% from the studies I've seen, though much more than that for protection against hospitalization and death of course), but the booster brings your protection against infection back up to something like 75%. On Wednesday I was able to schedule one for Friday, though my choices of time were a little bit limited. Related, what should normally be one of the busiest weeks of the year at work is on track to make only half of what we did this time last year in sales.
