I don't think the age gap between consensual adults in our business and this age gap is not weird to me. I kinda find 25 and 65 odd, but it's not really of my business if they want to date each others.

They are still together despite the predatory power dynamic and I have seen on female datinf strategy that age gaps bigger than 5 years were wrong so I know it's just waiting to go into a disaster

Why would it be creepy? A lot of women are into older guys. I've had chicks with a bigger age gap than 9 years hit on me. And also much older.

Seems a bit creepy to me. But my cousin is engaged to a guy she started dating when she was 33 or 34 and he was 24 or 25 and it was only a little awkward for them. I think in your mid 20s it starts to become less of an issue because youre more likely to be finished with school and have something of a career started. By like 27 or so I dont think age gaps make much of a difference unless theres a significant power imbalance elsewhere in the relationship.

And if we are being honest thats actually the whole point of age gaps being weird - at a certain point there is an implied if not guaranteed imbalance of power that makes the relationship icky.

Oh god that discourse contaminated gamefaqs. I went back in college in my late 20s. My ex was the same age. Technically the power imbalance existed despite us being almost exact same age and yes it negatively affected me as he was a compulsive and manipulative liar. Power imbalances exist in every relationships. Do not conflict power imbalance and abuse of power. I got ADHD. Technically speaking someone who don't have a power imbalance over me due to more coherent and linear thinking.

By the logic of power imbalance a woman in a wheelchair should only date a person in a wheelchair that cannot walk.

Calm the fuck down lol. I said that the problem is when there is a significant power imbalance. A woman in a wheelchair can have other power elsewhere in a relationship, a disability doesnt solely define a persons entire life.

Sorry. I have been on Twitter and according to some of the nuts there acted like I was a predator for dating my boyfriend when he was 21 and I was 29 and apparently we cannot have anything in common if we are of different ages. We litterally like similar music, movies, video games and are both cat lovers. Apparently I have a big house and an established carreer at that age even though I was litterally a broke college student. 3.5 years later I finally have some money, but I never felt the power imbalance

Also a woman in a wheelchair might have power in another field, but it's still a massive power imbalance

The things that a 24 year old person and a 33 year old person enjoy are likely to be vastly different. It would be difficult for the social circle of the average 24 year old to blend in with the social circle of a 33 year old and vice versa.

Let's just assume for the topic that the 33 year old is a man, and the 24 year old is a woman. The only reason the man is looking for a younger woman is because they're more beautiful than their older counterparts and if a guy can marry a woman who is 9 years younger than him, she will still be beautiful when he's 45 and he's winning at life.

And a young woman, probably just out of college with debt, would only benefit from being with the mysterious older man who has had more time to acquire wealth and probably has a house already. If she can just join into his life, always be with a more mature man than her friends, she's winning at life. It's that simple.

Do people like this love each other? Sure, but it's silly to pretend that the conditions for these relationships don't exist. People just don't like to hear about because they feel like it invalidates their feelings.

Sounds like you lack a decent number of friends. I am 44 and my gf is 29. We were friends for 3 years first because we were in the same social circle. My good friends range from about 24 to 54.

I feel like there's certain people that have been in Covid isolation way too long and have no idea how society works, but I do always forget this is a forum of virgins and NEETs. The way some of you talk, it's like a 24 year old is still playing with Barbie's and dreaming of being an astronaut and the 33 year old is at the life stage of sipping 100 year old wine and watching artsy French films.

"They're going to enjoy vastly different things" Bitch, no they're not, they're gonna watch Spider-Man together and play Halo and eat at restaurants like every normal person of every age.

Yep, everyone ages differently. Someone guessed I was 24 the other day and I'm way older than that.

So many people are hung up on age though. You see it in dating apps a lot; a specific age range people want. When I didn't put my age in an app I was getting contacted by a lot of younger people. Never met any of them, it was just for fun mostly.

It could be? It became immediately uncool to go to high-school parties once my younger friends were out of HS, and now it's becoming increasingly uncool to be at college parties because the people keep getting younger and we're getting older lol
