I got official tests for IQ and Autism Spectrum Disorder and am sincerely sharing the results in this topic.) Hi everybody! Recently I had some diagnostic test for Autism Spectrum Disorder and IQ and I want to share some of the results here. First IQ: I took the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV), as I understand it, this test only allows for a top IQ of 160, as such any category where I maxed out might reflect that I could be higher than my score. My IQ on this test (which is a lower bound because I maxed out some tests) is 142. I lost points on some categories that I don't claim to be great at (like quick labeling). But I maxed out matrix reasoning which is all I wanted to prove, because IMO this is the purest form of intelligence. A few of the questions during the post-test discussion were clearly things I knew, and after the fact the therapist was willing to discuss what my score should have been given that I knew them, but I wanted to be super fair so I didn't let her change them because I felt like it was cheating. If I had indulged this I would likely have an even higher score. I'll be honest, any self-esteem I have in my intelligence is not based in trivia or hyper-fast speed, so I didn't sweat the parts that fell in there. And so I'm pretty happy, because the only places I lost points were speed or trivia, not general IQ/detective reasoning. I have a bachelor's from UW-Madison and a 90k/year job now.. Not going to lie, my social anxiety and other issues made it really hard to maintain a good GPA after adolesence. I did great when I showed up, but yeah particularly in those years I was insanely anxious and ashamed all the time. The school part of school was never that hard for me, the "I don't belong here, nobody likes me, everybody hates me, I'm trash, also social situations don't make sense to me" part was hard. A good example was back in highschool I got an F 3rd quarter, an A 4th quarter, and a 5/5 on my calc 2 test. In summary: I did well when I was able to push throuhg my depression/anxiety/social issues, otherwise I did have issues. Yeah, I totally agree. It's a good test and I don't disagree with any of the shortcomings they argued. Some of CE's response to this though hasn't really helped :P But I do sincerely want to manage my behavior such that I hear and listen to criticism, but I also just don't let myself be a punching bag. IDK what the socially appropriate response is to people who are legitimately pissed off at you that you are intelligent. Ignore them? Call them out? IDK... As I understand it, back during those tests it wasn't "has severe issues with social situations" and was even more like "can't function independently at all." before you got a confirmation of such a diagnosis. Secondly, as my therapist speculates, it could be some of my trauma that drove me to struggle developmentally even further. My autistic tendencies are my default, and I was unable to develop due to my traumas I think is what she is arguing. That's why I got from her report and summary.
