So tired of these pathetic movies with totally unrelatable storylines. No ones life is like a superheroes life, 10+ years of this and folks are still on marvels nuts even though the best superhero movie is man of steel...screw marvel, screw superhero movies, to hell with the mcu and dcu, screw the rock in black adam and dr strange 2, make a donnie darko level movie for this poor generation...

The MCU was made to prove we never needed it.

I watched the new MCU movie with my friends and then we went fishing and caught 5 sharks SAID NO MAN EVER.

People are having less children than ever before, i do not get it, we have been making amazing superhero movies for like 10+ years...we need to legalize recreational marijuana!

Most movies have unrelatable storylines.

Like my favorite movie for example. I'm never going to go to a dinner party where there's a bunch of murders.

Even movies that are realistic are usually unrelatable to most people. Like a movie about a sport star. Or about a famous war battle that actually happened. Normal people won't ever know what those experiences are like

Spoilers for Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Ultimate Edition, and Zack Snyder's Justice League follow:

It's important to note that the film isn't telling us that Pa Kent is right. That scene isn't preaching to us, as the audience; it's a moment between a scared father and his confused son. Jon Kent is clearly a conflicted father who loves his son and wants to protect him from scrutiny and being ostracized, and he knows that Clark can do good but wonders if it's worth the consequences. We see those consequences coming to bloom in BvS--people judging him, treating him like an outsider, accusing him of crimes, trying to control him, etc. etc.

If you read the script of Man of Steel as if it's talking to we, the audience, it seems silly, because characters say and do strange and imperfect things...but we don't exist in that world. That scene is between two characters. We're just observing it. You have to look at it from the perspective that...Jonathan Kent doesn't have all the answers. He admits to not having the answers. He doesn't say "It's okay to let your friends die," but is instead asked by his son..."What was I supposed to do? Let them die?" to which Jonathan says "Maybe..." because he doesn't know. He really doesn't know. It's clear he values Clark's security and happiness over anything else, which is why he later chose to give his own life instead of letting his son's secret come out.

Jonathan Kent is a flawed character, and clearly so; we learn more about his flaws and the value of his insights over the course of the next two movies (BvS: Ultimate Edition, as well as Zack Snyder's Justice League.)

It's an ongoing problem for DCEU Superman-- He's torn between doing what he thinks is 'right' and doing what makes him happy. He chose not to save his father that day with the twister because he understood the reason for it all; that doesn't mean he didn't regret letting his dad die every single day of his life from then on.

I think this scene, from BvS: Ultimate Edition, does a pretty good job of summing up Clark's relationship with his father and what he feels about heroism:

It's a story about the consequences of heroism. In saving one thing, you might cause the destruction of another. Clark doesn't hear horses in his nightmares; he hears people. He thinks of the people he failed to save; he thinks of the people who were killed or injured because of choices he made. The bomb that destroyed the capitol building and killed those people was only there because he was there. He felt responsible.

That was the moment he realized the true gravity of his role in the world. People were destined to hate and fear him, no matter how hard he tried to do the right thing. He learned that you can't save everyone. That you can't make the entire world get along. He was on that mountain to decide whether or not he wanted to be Superman anymore, and thoughts of his father convinced him to bear the burdens of his heroism for Lois' sake. He realized that Lois was his world, just like his mom was his dad's world.

Snyder's movies are definitely driven by characters, and those characters have flaws and complexities that aren't immediately obvious if you don't pay attention to what's really happening and what's really being said. I'm not gonna say Snyder's films are high art or anything, but they're not even half as dumb as his detractors would suggest.

People have hard lives man let them forget about themselves for like 2 hours to watch an unrelatable action film and stop being such a fucking baby jfc.

At the very least you can just avoid them, I hardly go to the movies myself and im not throwing a tantrum over what other people like to do
