I dont know who started the custom of them only being popular during the holidays. I will eat tamales in June idgaf

When I used to work construction there was a couple Mexican ladies who would cruise the job sites in this old Ford Windstar with two coolers in the back. One full of burritos and tamales and one full of jarritos. Everything was like $1 a piece and it was awesome

I would literally kill someone to have those tamales rn

I imagine if you choose the right individual to eliminate then all your tamale dreams will be fulfilled, in your butt.

I agree but there is nothing worse than a bad tamale

agreed they have to be fresh too after just a couple days in the fridge they start to get kinda gross.

I actually just freeze them and reheat them that way

There was a taco lady that would enter my office and sell burritos and tamales.

One day I decided to try my first ever tamale. Moments after taking a bite I was disgusted. I looked around and said, These Tamales arent good at all. Then I was met with my employees shocked look on their faces.

Well it turns out I was eating it with the husk still attached. I didnt know.

My brother in law works a similar job and gets them there.

It might only be a US thing Im not sure. I just know thats the time of year you can find beings of light and divinity distributing manna from heaven across grocery store parking lots nationwide. The southwestern states at least for sure.

And then some of the fast food places like El Pollo or Del Taco will have them as a seasonal menu item

How about tamales covered in enchiladas?

Tamales are the perfect food. Only problem is when I buy a dozen, I eat a dozen in about 20 minutes.

I love me some good Mexican food.

There's a food truck on my way to work called Mi Casa

They've got these delicious burritos filled with this magical cheese pinto beans lettuce jalapenos a little rice and your choice of any meat that can also go on tacos.

A little store in Santa Cruz next to the Dollar Tree that I go to has great tamales. Fresh made.

Yeah you're probably right. Best just to stick with sour cream and salsa.

Apparently mole is pretty good with tamales I want to try it

sour cream can be good with tamales especially if the meat in them is a little dry which usually isnt the case but it can happen. Enchilada sauce I mean you could do it but I think the sauce would completely overwhelm the corn which I personally appreciate, but yeah they would be a little bit more similar to enchiladas if you did that

I ordered some mole enchiladas one time at this tiny restaurant out in the middle of the desert and they were out of this world

As far back as I can remember, my family would get together a couple weeks before Christmas and make 500 or so tamales.

My mom would make a delicious poblano based sauce to pour over them. They are also great served along side refried beans and eggs for breakfast.

Everyone is all grown up and in different parts of the world but my mom still makes a smaller batch and sends me some.
