Was the Kickstarter boom in the 2010s worthwhile for the good games it produced, or more harm than good for the mountains of crap and scams that come out of it?

What do you think?

I never buy into them so they are beneficial enough for me. Shovel Knight rules.

I think it was good overall -- sure there were scammers and finished games that delivered less than expected -- but without KS in the picture at all none of those games (from terrific to terrible) would have came into being at all.

Depends on the game because there's lots of garbage out there and scams, but I'd say it was beneficial overall just because of those diamonds in the rough. I liked Bloodstained RotN, Hollow Knight, Shovel Knight, Skullgirls, and probably some others I'm forgetting. I look forward to 9 Years of Shadows and Keylocker.

And I just realized this topic says Kickstarter, so does it have to be that or just crowdfunded games in general? Because I was speaking of crowdfunded games.
