Aviation put an end to that.

It still happens in places where the trip doesn't take three fucking weeks, like from France to the UK. But I don't see why anyone in this day and age would want to travel across the Atlantic by ship.

Yeah, I did a Denmark to Norway one before. Also thats pretty much what cruises in the gulf are, with stops at lots of islands etc.
