I know I might get downdoots for this Reddit. But it's something that I really do believe in. I'm not even on minimum wage but just the other day I saw my coffee engineer at my local Starbucks (out of 30 local ones) actually hold back tears as she struggled to complete my order. I said to her 'young lady, how much do you earn an hour'? She said 'minimum wage' and began to cry. I saw the manager of the store approach and I told him 'she deserves more!' and took my coffee and left. But as I left, I could see her mouth 'thank you' to me. Edit: Thanks for the kind updoots! Edit 2: Wow I didn't expect this to get so many responses! Edit 3: Some of you are asking why I didn't do more to help. I only make $500k a year and live in the lowest income region in the world. What do you expect me to do? I can't pay her a better salary but I know she should have a better one. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Minimum wage in America has not really gone up enough to follow inflation, in decades. I think I read once that people who made minimum wage in the 70s had a better life than people who make it today ... Copied to Clipboard!

Ita mostly inflation rates. Minimum wage is too low, but housing, utilities, groceries, gas, insurance, and medical care are all way too expensive. --- So long, Thanks for all the fish! ... Copied to Clipboard!
