I'm not even on minimum wage but just the other day I saw my coffee engineer at my local Starbucks (out of 30 local ones) actually hold back tears as she struggled to complete my order. I said to her 'young lady, how much do you earn an hour'? She said 'minimum wage' and began to cry. I saw the manager of the store approach and I told him 'she deserves more!' and took my coffee and left. But as I left, I could see her mouth 'thank you' to me. Edit: Thanks for the kind updoots! Edit 2: Wow I didn't expect this to get so many responses! Edit 3: Some of you are asking why I didn't do more to help. I only make $500k a year and live in the lowest income region in the world. What do you expect me to do? I can't pay her a better salary but I know she should have a better one. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
