it launches at 12 am west coast, ie the second it's wednesday on the best coast

streamers all seem to have a set time to drop stuff, and it's the same time worldwide. most seem to like midnight GMT or midnight Pacific. the sacrifices we have to make for a worldwide service, i guess.

The (continental) US spans 4 timezones and most streaming platforms base release times off midnight in the westernmost one. The easternmost time zone is 3 hours ahead, so it just happens that Disney+, Netflix and so on release stuff at 3am in that timezone.

Fuck, this episode felt so short. Which it was, I suppose, it's only about 38 minutes long. Next week must be a long one if it's going to wrap up three different plotlines and have the obligatory fight scenes.

Probably the weakest of the show IMO, even though Yelena was a fucking delight. It mostly just confirmed things we all already knew.

I did like that Kingpin's used car company is called "Fat Man's Used Cars."

Fantastic episode, the reveal at the end was great. Yeah I hope the last one is a bit longer too

It's weird that this show is super slow, especially this episode, but it's still a really fun watch.

So I'm guessing the secret about the watch is that Laura used to work for Fisk and she left. Which explains why Clint's family has always been in hiding.

I was gonna say she might be his daughter, but she didnt seem too "omg, dad is gonna find me" about it when he said "big guy".

This show is so good. It's basically a Netflix MCU show if Netflix MCU knew what they were doing after their first year.

The reason this show has been so good is that it's rooted in reality. It's normal humans and not superhumans

how are they gonna wrap all this up in one episode

or are we considering the "jack" plotline resolved since he's been arrested? sure didn't feel resolved to me

also how does everyone seem to know it was going to be kingpin? do people look this stuff up in advance? or were there subtle easter eggs that only like comic readers would get?

Jack probably is innocent now that we know it's Kate's mom that's been working with Fisk. As for who killed his uncle(?), that was probably something to do with Kate's mom as well.

We knew it was going to be Kingpin because it was clearly him during Maya's flashback, the fact that Kingpin is Maya's adopted father in the comics, the fact she works at "Fat Man's" car shop, and...yeah, Kingpin's actor tweeted about "loving Hawkeye" weeks ago.

What I'm interested in is that...if Yelena was hired by Kate's mom, then how does that Valentina(?) lady come into play?

Man Marvel doing a better Batman with Ronin that what I have seen so far from the Batman trailers.

I had the same thought. My guess is Kate hires Valentina to get it done, and Valentina uses Yelena to actually do the job. Something like that.

Yeah it sounds like she works for Valentina, which makes Valentina her boss and not the client.

Yeah, Yelena works for Valentina. So I guess Valentina just takes jobs from people (in this case, Kate's mom), and then assigns agents to them (in this case, Yelena).

And I guess this specific job from Kate's mom actually comes from Kingpin, using her as a middle man.

It sounds more like her mom made the call on her own. Since she did make a call after meeting Clint.

Not much can make me mark out like that, but Vincent D'Onofrio being brought back as Kingpin? Phenomenal. Connects the Netflix shows and takes the #1 best part of them with Kingpin bringing him into the MCU.

yeah this is awesome, plus kingpin is a great villain to have in the mcu

I do feel bad for Spidey, having all his best villains going to Daredevil/Hawkeye, only being interested in Tony Stark, or already been taken by previous Spideys.

kingpin is a big enough villain to be shared. for spider-man; looks like they're bringing in the sinister six for him to fight against.

I am worried a little about Kingpin tbh. I don't think the MCU will ever be as brutal as the Netflix shows, so I think people will be disappointed.

My worry is that he makes one of the MCU quips.

gentle reminder that the netflix shows were written to be MCU, and have never been explicitely removed from it. the safest bet has always been that they count until they get retcon'd. but at the same time, until/unless they start streaming on D+, i doubt they'll be required viewing, either.

Hawkeye's been really good at making everyone feel more grounded and like real people, so I feel like there shouldn't be a chance of that, thankfully.

Yeah, unless said otherwise, I'm just going to assume the Netflix shows are still canon. No point in rebooting all those characters' stories with the exact same actors.

Daredevil took place in 2016~18, and this is in 2023, so this is just Kingpin five years later. He was presumably not snapped away since Ronin knew him, and he's rebuilt what he lost in the intervening years. Just follow up on his story with that.

I'm really glad they got Fisk into the MCU proper. I love D'Onofrio. I've enjoyed him ever since Goren in L&O Criminal Intent.

I always felt that if the Netflix stuff was really going to get left behind, he would have been one of the biggest wastes and it would have been hard bringing in Fisk as a different actor.

That little scene about Yelena getting blipped was kinda cool.

Also I don't think kate's dad is dead. I'm kinda sus about that.

Shouldn't he still be in prison? DDs3, he basically corrupted the entire NY branch of the FBI, fairly certain that carries a penalty greater than 5 years.

But with the snap breaking Kingpin out of prison would have been easier and he would have just gone underground again to run shit from the shadows.

I'm still thinking that the Netflix shows are in an alternate reality. They just brought back D'Onofrio as Kingpin because it was such a beloved portrayal of the character. I mean, you don't hear people saying that J.K. Simmons was playing the same Jonah Jameson from the Raimi trilogy in Spider-Man: Far From Home just because it's the same actor.

The Netflix shows are probably multiverse variants as far as the MCU is concerned.
