PS Direct. They sent me an invitation from the last round of sign-ups, and I got lucky.

Both Wario64 and CheapAssGamer twitters tweeted out about it like 2-ish hours before it happened, I already had my Walmart account set up and waited in a digital queue for 12 minutes and then it let me get one, surprisingly easy for me but I heard others had a tougher time so I might have just gotten lucky

YES, I do!

I made a topic a while back about Sony's shit website failing me. About a month ago they sent another email and that time I was finally able to buy one after waiting in the queue for 45 minutes. Got into the site and 5 minutes later had one ordered.

Only PS5 game I've played so far is Astro's Playroom, which is pretty fucking great for being an extended controller demo and love letter to Playstation. The resistive triggers are pretty neat!

I transferred all my PS4 data over, and now I've got a PS4 Pro that's not of any real use. Only got it like maybe 3 years ago too... I guess Sony wins this round; they got me to buy a new console I don't really need.

Nah I got a Series X, a Switch, and a PC. I think I'm good for now, certainly I don't need one badly enough to get involved in the nonsense it takes to get one right now.

I've got a Series S. Once you get used to faster load times, it's hard to go back.

Yeah it came with Ratchet and Clank which I didn't want so I traded it in at GameStop for $65 thanks to one of those games from this month bonuses.

Gave the free month of PS Now to Icon because I didn't want that.

Got it months ago. Just followed a couple twitter early warning things, turned on notifications, and ordered it when they said it was available.

Took almost no effort and got it first try.

Yes and once I finally decided to look for one about a month ago (bad timing) it was hard. Finally started calling the same store every morning since thats when they would know their daily new inventory and got lucky one day

Two things

• Make sure to login to your Sony account before hand and check that you've got all your info already set up (address, credit card (if you're okay with saving that), etc.). The site was fine when I was finally able to get one, but the few unsuccessful times before that the site was a slow shitshow.
• Click on that link 10-30 minutes before 2pm. When it starts they randomly assign you a spot in the queue. I think if you click it after that you'll just go to the back of the queue.

When I finally got in, the digital edition was actually sold out, which was fine because I wanted the one with the disc drive. But, you know, be prepared that both might not be available if/once you get in.

Also worth pointing out that you might get in sooner than the site tells you. During my attempt (using mobile), it said it would be over an hour. I checked sixteen minutes later and got in.

No, the email tells you whether or not you can get in line. You do need to go to the website at a specified time. You can do it on a cell phone like I did, if needed.

Huh. I got mine through direct and I was never emailed. I just went to the site when I got the twitter alert that it was live

Nope, most places here do lotteries when they get stock in so you have to get lucky. The few times I got an alert of a drop they were gone in seconds

I dont want one enough to pay scalper prices though

Highly recommend selling it. You can get a lot for a used Pro right now.

My pro is better off as a trophy boosting machine

I got my PS5 at launch. When they PS5 event happened last September and they told everyone pre-orders would go live the next day, I called my local GameStop and verified I couldn't come by then and do it. They confirmed it was happening the following day. Called back an hour later and he tells me they went live and he's only got one more left and I can't do it over the phone. I showed up since I lived less than a mile away and missed it. I was scrambling the rest of the night until Wario64 on twitter sent out the link for amazon's stock and it was live around 11:45pm instead of midnight as they were anticipating. I was fortunate enough to get it there. Can't imagine the agony of wanting one right now and having to get lucky. As someone said previously, there is no going back to loading times now lol

Yes got mine a few weeks ago at first attempt. I'm not sure if it's easier here in the UK or I just got lucky, but I just followed a stock tracker on Twitter and as soon as it said stock was live, I purchased one.

I've bought 7 total but 6 were for friends (I made zero profit from it, I wasn't scalping them). Not sure what it's like now but it used to be really easy to get them on Walmart drops if you knew what you were doing. I could basically guarantee at least 2 per drop. I could have gotten more but they would cancel the 3rd one onwards. I'd imagine if you had multiple Walmart accounts you could bypass that.

That's crazy, just checked eBay and it looks like the Death Stranding edition sells for like $400+. I only paid $300 for mine. May sell it and replace it with another PS5 at some point down the line.
