Landsmoder seems a rather reverant title for a politician whose been prime minister for 28 minutes.

What's her general political leaning?

And I presume "landsmoder" is a term of endearment? "Mother of the Nation" kind of thing?

But that is part of the fun Our previous PM who was in office for 7 years was rather mockingly called Landsfader so time to reclaim the word lol.

Center-Left.

And yes, that is what it mean. Land = country and moder = mother.

She want strong social safety nets, but they should come with stipulations: for example that those who can work shall do their utmost to get a job if they are on unemployment pay or welfare, but the State shall also help you find a job and enable supplementary training. She wanna raise pensions and she wanna raise spending on healthcare, elderly care and public schools.

She wanna speed up the Green societal and industrial change both for the climates sake but also as a way to give Sweden an economic edge in the future.

A risk tax on banks and credit institutes, which she designed while Minister of Finance (2014-2021), was passed by Riksdagen the other day. The money is meant to be used to cover for societys cost in event of a new financial crisis.

She support tougher sentencing for several crimes and wanna make it easier to deport non-citizens who commit crime. But she also wanna implement preventive measures so youngsters in poor neighbourhoods dont get involved with crime like selling drugs in the first place.

Regarding the strong approval of Magdalena, a fair amount of it probably comes from her work as Minister of Finance for the last 7 years. The PM she worked for was not the most popular but she herself did tremendous things for the economy. Not everything is her merit alone but under her handling of the State finances our national debt has shrunk from 45% of GDP to 26% (this number is from the start of 2021). This is without massive tax hikes and without massive cuts. Instead State spending has gone up in combination with the decreased national debt. She is viewed as highly competent by voters from all ideologies even if they dont necessarily agree with all of her policies.

A party poll from Right-wing newspaper SVD is more great news for the Socialdemocrats.

The numbers in brackets are Novembers numbers.

S = Socialdemocrats
V = Far-Left
MP = Greens
M = Conservatives
C = Neoliberals
L = Liberals
KD = Christian Democrats
SD = Nationalists

If the above poll ends up being the election result in September, were looking at a SocDem win.

The Greens and the Liberals will be out due to getting less than 4%.

The Socialdemocrats and the Far-Left will get 117 and 37 seats = 154.

The Conservatives and the Christian Democrats will get 76 and 19 seats = 95.
They will try to form an alliance with the Nationalist party (74 seats) which will put them at 169 seats.

The Neoliberal Center party (26 seats) will never support a Government which depend on the Nationalists, so they will once again vote for a SocDem PM = 180 seats.
