Might switch to Samsung TV instead, especially if others agree it's good.

It still has the red/white/yellow port to play wii/ps2 games on. Also anything older. The Sony TV set I bought doesn't really solve my issue with modern "HD" games and their minuscule text since it's to scale, everything else is big but the text itself remains small, so it doesn't really solve my issue. Meanwhile I lose the ability to play ps2 games and Wii virtual console games if I don't have composite cable port sockets.

Think I might have to get rid of the Sony TV and purchase a Samsung TV instead because the one at the store had all the useless "4k FHD HDMI Smart TV" nonsense modern TVs have but more importantly still has the red/white/yellow ports so it means I can play all consoles on one TV and don't have to keep moving them from place to place

I have a Samsung UHD 4K set and there's no AVI port on that one because it's not the norm anymore. Just 3 HDMI and 3 USB slots although you COULD buy a $10 video switch for that. Downside is resolution is "upscaled" to your tv which projects a blurrier 720p image than you remembered over a decade ago.

Just buy a CRT monitor from eBay instead.

This except don't buy from eBay. Look around Craigslist. You shouldn't pay over $50 for a crt. I got a beautiful 32 inch Toshiba for free. Came with component, composite, and s-video ports. Got my entire retro setup running off those component and s-video ports.

Those old systems would look awful on any 4ktv hooked straight into it, especially via composite cables. Get a good quality scaler like the retrotink 5x pro and use component cables with it. That would be the best way to play old systems on modern TV's. There are other scalers out there like other retrotinks and the ossc, but the 5x is the current best one. Don't bother with adapters or cheap HDMI converters the quality is going to be shit especially when you're still relying on your tv to do the upscaling.

If you balk at the price of a good upscaled, then I would agree with the others just saying get a crt. You can even stick with your low quality composite cables and probably find a free tv on Facebook market.

Not bad, didn't think of the notion most regular people would just throw them away or donate them.

Yeah most people are still just giving them away as long as you're willing to remove them from their homes. Most people on eBay are advertising crts as retro gaming tvs and slapping a high sticker price on them. Then you have to worry about shipping costs and what'll happen to the geometry on the tvs during shipping.

Were past the era of getting CRTs for free. I remember going to GoodWill in the late 2000s/early 2010s and they had an entire section for CRT tvs. Now you cant even donate them.

Dont buy them on eBay though unless there happens to be a local pickup option. as people said they are insanely overpriced there.

It really depends on the area. I got mine for free two years ago. There's still plenty of people on r/crtgaming that post about getting free sets.

Avoid Sony. There is no good reason to even consider them. If you want "the best" OLED TV get LG. If you're concerned about burn in or want something slightly less expensive than the LG get a Samsung QLED.

There is no other rational avenue besides can't afford a TV above $1000 in which case Sony still isn't an option. Just avoid them. They rushed their TV's to market without crucial features enabled and are making a mess trying to add them later with firmware.

Yes those are crts. Older game consoles(pre PS3/360 gen) were built with crts and their analog signals in mind. Modern day hdtvs with digital signals have all this extra processing which leads to controller lag with these games systems.

There was a span of a few years where there were these "HD CRTs" that were smaller/flatter than your average crt. That's probably what you have.
