"Why should you expect to play a game you paid money for? just log in at 5am like i do theres like half the queue at that time! why are you blaming Square enix, they just sold the game knowing they can't support it and don't do much to improve their servers! they're a small indie developer give them a break!"

Which isn't complaining. Once again, underperforming players that knowingly refuse to contribute and play better in a group setting should be kicked, without regret, every single time. If a tank refuses to tank, they get kicked, healers refuse they to heal, get kicked, dps that refuses to do meaningful contribution and damage, get kicked.

Initiating a vote kick is definitely a form of complaining. It's you saying "this guy is so bad I don't want him in my group anymore"

The system is meant to be used against afk people and misbehaving jerks. It's not intended to punish people for having subpar dps.

Add-ons aren't technically allowed, but if you don't say anything Square will look the other way.

Once you start using DPS meters to punish other players for underperforming thats when a GM would get involved though

Underperforming also means only using your level 6 combo at level 90 and ignoring the other 20+ buttons in your kit that the game forces you to use at certain points.

I think mentioning that you were doing Level 90 content in the OP would've helped your case a tiny bit. If it wasn't an endgame dungeon bad play would've been more excusable, but that person probably has 200+ hours in the game, and it's not like they can be trying out the class for the first time at max level. If you're going to play badly deliberately, at least play with a premade so you aren't bugging random people with that.

Was no one saying anything in the chat at all? I occasionally get undergeared people in roulette, but usually mentioning you're new to something or apologizing for bad play is enough for me to excuse it.

Its the last story dungeon and dude is playing on a reworked job. They prolly just wanna play for the story and thats it. Is it frustrating to play with people like that? Yes, but it isn't extreme or savage content so get over it. Offer constructive criticism and if that doesn't work, move the fuck on.

Thats playing badly, which is not a reportable or bannable offence. Only toxic people care about this sort of thing outside of progression raids. As I said earlier, the WoW community accepts people like you with open arms, so why dont you go there if you want to be toxic and mean to people. You arent suited for a friendly and helpful community like whats in FF14

tbf FFXIV really does have some fake positivity problems, we shouldnt pretend the community is sunshine and rainbows just because the next best MMO is dogshit. Ive seen so many people talk shit behind peoples back in this game I kinda wish they'd just be up front about it.

i played WoW so I know the culture people like TC propagate. It starts with kicking people because they underperform. Then it moves onto kicking people because they arent geared enough (even in levelling dungeons), or even if they are geared enough but have one bad item. Then it moves onto kicking people because they made a mistake one time. Then it moves onto kicking people as a form of harassment (i.e. a group a friends queuing and then kicking the random person who joins for the lulz). In FF14 its even worse since the dungeons are a part of the MSQ and new players want to watch the cutscenes, but people like TC will kick them because they dont want to wait for a newbie sitting in a cutscene. This is exactly what TC wants and is exactly what will happen to FF14, as it did to WoW, if shit views like what TC holds arent stamped out. If the end result is that FF14 has a fake positivity problem, thats infinitely better than the alternative

Bruh we've had WoW refugees piling in for years and ACT has always been a thing. This slippery slope never happens, and people with TC's mindset get shit on ruthlessly as seen in this topic.

If TC got reported for what he did in-game, the GMs would come down on him like the fist of an angry god.

The game simply isnt built for that scenario to ever take root. FFXIV is based on a strong community and cooperation, along with generally easy gameplay for casuals and options for those who want more of a challenge. Personally I've seen way more toxic players fearmongering about the game turning into WoW that I'm more concerned for that playerbase rather than the WoW refugees going through their assimilation phase.

Like go do a Labyrinth run and watch a sprout fuck up a mechanic on their very first 24 man raid, the whole alliance chat pops off shitting on WoW refugees

Fwiw the person you're talking to just started playing and hasn't even finished ARR yet, so they have very little experience with the game and community as a whole.

I wouldn't kick someone actually trying and doing bad. But when you only use 3 buttons when you have 25+ buttons to use, yes, you're getting kicked.

Didn't read most of this topic, but tc is correct besides the vote kick being questionable. Could be justified though, sometimes people are obviously there for a carry. Offering advice is 100% valid and that whm is pretty bad too but that's standard.

I also hope most of the people disagreeing either are trolling or don't play the game. Someone being bad is fine, sometimes there is a legitimate excuse. Certainly not everyone is gonna do 99 percentile dps, but the way it's almost encouraged is just detrimental to people who actually try.
