Do you know anyone that makes every single conversation about themselves?

I don't know why I am so annoyed by this. So I know someone who, as soon as you reconnect with them, they immediately start talking about their kids even though you never ask. And this isn't someone cute or anything. This is someone I stupidly dated when I was 19 who was 41 at the time.

So they reconnected with me a few days ago and they tell me "Hey I thought about you on Thanksgiving" and then they proceed to bombard me with an update on how all of her kids are doing even though I never asked.

I try to be cool and show her what I've been up to (traveling) and she makes it about her kids again. For example I say "I went white water rafting" and she says "Mel did that. She also did this. She also did that."

She has to top everything with either something she's done or something her kids have done. Fucking annoying.

Now she blocks me. What a toxic piece of shit person lol. They will unblock me a year from now and force update me on her kids again for sure.

Yeah dude lots of people love talking about themselves and lots of people love hearing themselves talk as well.

One of my co-workers does this, and he tends to glorify himself with crap such as "I was <whatever> for <#> years." It gets old real quick.

This is the issue. I don't mind someone who likes to talk about themself. It works because I don't talk about myself much. However, it's the people that are the "one-uppers" that absolutely suck

I, sadly, know too many people like this.

Most people don't have conversations anymore, they just wait for their turn to talk.

It's too the point that people tell me I share too little about my personal life. My thought process is, I don't give a crap about how many points my co-worker's kids scored in his basketball game, so why would they care how my daughter's cheer team did at their competition this weekend?

Well, as someone who just had his first child, I will say it is incredibly easy to talk about my kid.

She always comes up in conversation and honestly sometimes I do it without really noticing I'm doing it. I just love her and love talking about her.

I don't try to one up anybody about anything though. I think being a parent just changes things a lot. When you have a kid, they basically take over your life, especially the first year or so when they need constant attention. And everything becomes about them.

I was even sending them pictures of my travels and they were countering with pictures of their own, as quickly as you would time a button in dark souls to parry an attack.

It was basically a sword dance of picture sending. Fucking ridiculous. The stupid bitch can't shut up for two minutes about her kids.

We even stopped talking because I called her out on it and she's so fucking thick headed that she does it again as if we never argued about it. Stupid bitch.

Yeah, me (and I'm not being funny, I do think I actually try to shift conversations to myself too frequently when I enter them).

Personally, I love hearing people talk about themselves. Hearing them yap about themselves is quite the spectacle.
