The running theories are either that WWE is trimming expenses to make it look better to sell to someone, or that these specific ones are a power play from someone against Triple H, or both.

I feel like I'd have to go non-exploding ring. For as shitty as Alexa/Fiend was, they atleast kept trying to make it work. I kinda hate how they tried to salvage the exploding ring by trying to spin it like it was intentional. Sometimes you have shitty ideas, but I respect atleast owning a shitty idea over trying to run from it in an equally shitty fashion.

Well, like said, shitty ideas are shitty ideas. It's just a difference of opinion. I can see why some would think WWE actually sticking with Alexa/Fiend is worse. To me, AEW's "well ackshually" into a barely less shitty idea squeaks by it, since they honestly could have just sold it straight for like a week and then moved on and people would have forgotten on their own. Like, to me, having a shitty idea and trying 100% to make it work is bad, but having a shitty idea, selling it 100% while only actually putting like 10% actual effort into it, and then immediately changing course and going "We meant for it to be shitty tho honest" is worse.

Basically, I'll laugh at somebody who swings for the fences and strikes out, sure, but I respect it more than somebody who swings for the fences, hits the ball three feet, and then says "Well I actually was bunting."

I mean they did the best they could with it. I personally would have just ignored it and moved on but I guess they felt it was super important that Kenny Omega pantomime 69ing in a ring.

There's also the fact that the design of it was so unearthly awful that there was no way it could have created a believable shot.

But this is a G***er award and I feel Crispy Fiend and Alexa by proxy takes the cake.

And at the moment, the first set of awards from 411's writers (now with 100% less Watry opinions)

Biggest Disappointment
1) WWE mass releases
2) RoH hiatus
3) NXT 2.0
4) NXT stars booking treatment on main roster
5) Becky vs Bianca at Summerslam

Best Non Wrestler
1) Paul Heyman
2) Taz
3) Pat McAfee
4) MVP
5) Tony Schiavone

Best Tag Team
1) The Lucha Bros
2) FTR
3) Young Bucks
4) Usos
5) RK-Bro and Briscoes (tie)

Worst Major Show
1) Wrestlemania Backlash
2) Extreme Rules
3) Survivor Series
4) Revolution
5) Fastlane
(The editors mostly acknowledged this year's voting was tough as there wasn't any genuinely horrible shows in their opinion)

Best Major Show
1) All Out
2) Full Gear
3) Wrestlemania 37
4) Double or Nothing
5) Takeover: Vengeance Day

Best Weekly Show
1) Dynamite
2) NXT
3) SmackDown
4) Rampage
5) NXT UK

Weekly Show was the first genuine blowout, as Dynamite was voted #1 by 8 out of 9 writers (NXT UK being the other #1 vote)

Curious what would be people's most watched moments/clips/matches of the year.

I say this because I've probably watched the no music Jericho/MJF entrance about once a week since it happened, and the Adam Cole/Bryan Danielson debut just about as much.

Fair enough, I guess theres also Katie Vick for a more famous example, but everyone involved in those storylines was more established than Eddie and Eddie had a face turn during the post match and they didnt really miss a beat afterwards. I would probably consider the firings (so long as we mention how they were booked beforehand, like Hit Row/Kross/Bearcat) or NXT 2.0 over it just because they have more consequences.

Also, Honestly between Taker/Kane you could probably fill wrestlecrap out with solid entrants, and yet they were pretty much immune because everyone was sold on the characters anyway. Feel like they were exempt from the many years of stupid booking they got

Honestly no

The last few weeks (10?) of Dynamite/Rampage will be on the TNT app (maybe TBS app now for the most recent Dynamite).

After that they cycle to the B/R app which is a mess and in different states of disrepair based on platform

I sincerely hope some sort of AEW archive app is in the cards for 2022

And they definitely have! Just a simple search got the following inductions (excluding the archives because I'm not up for paying for that)...

Taker
Escape the Undertaker (Netflix)
Goldberg vs Undertaker
Face to Face with the Undertaker (book)
Ortons vs Undertaker feud
Undertaker vs IRS feud
Crush vs Undertaker (in the film Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi)
Undertaker vs DDP feud

Kane
Countdown (film featuring him and Dolph Ziggler)
Journey Into Darkness (book)
Pete Rose and Kane
The Kane, Lita, Matt Hardy, and Snitsky saga that lasted forever (Part 3 of this induction that features Kane vs Edge and Edge vs Matt Hardy was quietly removed a few years back)
Kane vs Edge feud in 2010
Kane vs Rey feud in 2008
The Kane, Ryder, Eve, and Cena angle in 2012
Kane vs Khali vs Henry vs Big Daddy V on ECW in 2007
Kane vs "Kane"
Katie Vick

Also, Crown Jewel 2018 got inducted with heavy emphasis on the main event

Why is Charlotte Flair even on there already?

She reached the eligibility threshold of being 35 years old and being an active wrestler in 10 different years

People who fall off can always be put back on the ballot later if theres a push for it, see Orndorff this year

Dave at the time scolding the voters

If anything, Austin, in his first year eligible, is only shocking because he didn't draw the highest percentage of those making it since he figured to be the strongest candidate not only on the ballot, but the strongest candidate since we started doing balloting. If anything, it was a surprise that Austin's percentage didn't challenge the record 95% put on the board last year by Jushin Liger, but apparently the longevity at the top factor worked against him, because more than any other wrestler, Austin is the one who was the key in the WWF's turnaround in three years from being a company losing millions every year, to a company that is more profitable in one year than perhaps any other wrestling company has been in its entire history. No wrestler in history ever sold merchandise like Austin or drew the money he did, and even if he wasn't a strong performer in the ring, a category he doesn't fit into at all, those are credentials pretty hard to argue with.

were all of these their first year on the ballot? and if so, what's the highest percentage of a non-first year?

Today is Roman Reigns' 504th day as the reigning Universal Champion, tying the run from Brock Lesnar in 2017-2018

Tomorrow, Reigns' run will be the longest world title reign under the WWE banner since Hogan's four year run in the 1980s

The most unbelievable thing about this is that I honestly can't think of anyone who should reasonably take it from him. That's how beaten down the roster is.
